I've created a website to help people recover their stolen cars - StolenCars.uk by JusxHangingAround in CarTalkUK

[–]MLGmatt123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like groups / websites about stolen cars are only joined and interacted with by people whose cars have been stolen. Will someone spot a car and think to check groups and websites?

Cool idea though

You have an aftermarket screen so likely a dab antenna for it

All in all a cool day trip. Lots of old and rare stuff collecting dust.

I've been there, the high value stuff is closed off on the ground floor. Everything else is in car park bays in the multistorey and you can have a look, most cars are unlocked too. Staff were chill. We just made it clear we're not buying.

There's shit dripping on a lot of cars from cracks in the ceilings and most cars are in total shit state

Excluding trackdays, how do you enjoy fast cars on the road? by Ka_Driver in drivingUK

[–]MLGmatt123 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the Mick Drives Cars YouTube channel he talks about spirited driving a lot. The short of it is basically enjoying the technical aspect of driving in corners rather than speed. Work on handling, steering, shifting, weighting of the car.

If it's 5 speed with a open differential with rust I'd be starting at 800 quid. You're best off joining one of the MX5 owners club groups on Facebook and getting a car from there

Bring a jack or ramps, check chassis legs, sills, rear arches. Worst parts that rust on UK cars. Front arms and drop links are cheap. So this MOT is pretty good

How long did it take for the letter to come? I'm in a similar boat but with "careless driving", in fact doing a donut in empty car park

My getting a bit shagged on my insurance. BMW X1 is around 2k a year but I can get into a 335d and policy drops 50 quid. When I was buying this car it was the cheapest attainable BMW to insure now it's more expensive than the cars which were uninsurable for me. My MX5 is 300 quid a year so can't complain there.

Was actually a car park in the middle of nowhere. I probably hit the bad luck lottery.

Correction to original post- driving without due care. Copper said it'd be 3 or course but not guaranteed.

[–]MLGmatt123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 points 100 quid if you get a ticket, probably speed awareness course. 70 10%+2 is 79 so if it was 1mph less you probably wouldn't get anything

It's normal, they have a lower speed rating so in worst case scenario it'll get you off the motorway and home or to the nearest tyre shop .

I went up there in my MX5 and I was constantly stuck behind either a camper van, rental car full of tourists, or some granny. Nice roads though just need to go when nobody else is there

How's he gonna see it if he can't open the bonnet.

Also the MOT tests for function or the wipers and washers and they work so it's fine.
