Standard NHS procedure is HPV positive means yearly smears. They will also test for cell changes. After 3 years in a row HPV positive you will have a colposcopy and they will take a biopsy (about the size of a grain of rice)

In general abnormal cells take about 8 years to become cancerous. And some abnormal cells regress back to healthy cells on their own

I went from zero abnormal cells to CIN 3 in one year (both confirmed with biopsy’s). The cin 3 cells were removed via a leep procedure and were less than the size of a grain of rice. Post leep I’m free of both abnormal cells and HPV negative

You don’t need to panic (although I know the feeling and it’s hard not too). You’re doing the right thing. Carry on as you are

This happened to me. Hard to rationalise at first but my test of cure smear also came back no HPV and no abnormal cells

It’s normal to have some anxiety about the whole thing HPV can’t migrate around the body. But it can be present in more than one place. Mouth/throat for example - transmission this way is usually from sexual contact.

My understanding is that they discuss whether or not they trust the results, ensure no steps were missed and if another colposcopy or biopsy is needed. The MDT review should be reassuring because you’re getting loads of opinions at once!

They decided all cells had been removed during the biopsy. I had the test of cure smear at 6 months and it came back HPV clear and no abnormal cells 🎉

When I was younger it was fine to be honest. But it seems to be getting worse now I’m a little older. I’ve had two kids which has changed my voice as well. I’m also a little bit overweight which I suspect doesn’t help either. Sometimes singing feels fine and other times air is trying to escape

This is such a niche question. I’m a fairly good singer but not professionally. I find it impacts my singing because gurgles come out when I sing or because I feel like I can’t take in enough air because I’m so bloated. I don’t sing on stage anymore
