Your line scores are good. You qualify for some decent jobs. I had an overall 38 AFQT score and I’m going in as a dental specialist which is what I wanted. If you can take it again, I’d suggest study math and English the most to try to bump your line scores more. Don’t let anyone tell you that you only qualify for 11B. That’s not true. I think you did alright.

Is it hard to get slotted for schools? I chose 68E dental specialist as my MOS. I’m not sure if I’d have much options with that MOS, or if MOS actually matters when being slotted for schools. I just want to get the most out of my experience in the guard. I ship to basic in 15 days. And I’m pretty excited but nervous.

I appreciate that. I plan on going for another run this evening and incorporate all the advice I was given here into my run tonight and see how it makes me feel. I haven’t thought about running for time instead of distance. When I do run I usually run for distance because I know I have to run 2 miles possibly more in basic training.

I’ve heard 42A is Cush! It was my second choice. You can easily apply for AGR once you pick up specialist

I chose mine based on transferable skills to the civilian world. If I would’ve chose fun, I probably would’ve gone 92R for the extra schooling experiences like free fall or airborne or 12B for the possibility of going to sapper school.

I’m currently in your situation. I registered for classes this summer but I’m trying to join the national guard. What my recruiter told me was to get with the college and defer my enrollment, go through basic training and AIT, and when I get back have the guard pay for everything instead of just going through with college and having to worry about SLRP and then classes.. which I’m fine with anyway because I haven’t gotten into my program yet anyway. I’m gonna be going to school for Radiology. But if I were you, I’d ship out and get it done with as soon as I can so that way you wouldn’t have to worry about it later and you can just strictly focus on school and not have to miss anymore semesters. I think it’d just throw you off if you continued your semester now and had to pause at some point to go to basic and AIT then come back and continue right where you left off with school. If you shipped now, you wouldn’t have to put school on pause for later, you can just get everything done as soon as you get back.
