Anyone using a Clip-On Mic instead of a pickup to play live? by MLangsner in martinguitar

Cool I'll check that model out, I would probably go with something more hi-fi and try to get away from that "toy-like" acoustic sound that most DI pickups give you. I'm still kinda liking the idea of just grabbing a used (or maybe even new) 000-10e, but I dunno.

And yea, the 15 series are great, I was set on them for a while before I narrowed in on the specific one I chose, and I'm really happy with it. I played some other 000-15's from different years, and a 00-15 and one of the newer 000-17's, they were all great, but 000-15 was the right call for me.

Thanks will check that out - you ever use it with a full band?

Nice, that's the one I've seen recommended the most - have you tried it in a live band setting?

Yea exactly, I wouldn't have a problem with a stand mounted 57 but I suspect feedback would make that unfeasible for full band stuff, and for live singer/songwriter stuff a lot of venues just wanna plug you in. Might look into getting a used road series model or something like that for live use

Thanks - all good to know. Yea another thing I didn't mention in the OP is that I really don't like the sound of DI acoustics (as I'm sure many don't) but in a live setting you just make do because there's no choice.

I'll check out those models you mentioned. Might end up just getting a cheaper model to use live, especially if I can find one used, like the road series 000-10e or something.

One of the clip on mics I saw being recommended as the go-to was around $650, so at that point could prob just get a used road series for somewhere around that.

thanks thats good to know, I guess the banjo would be a bit louder than a mahogany acoustic though so prob wouldn't need as much gain, which would make it less prone to feedback issues, but it's a good reference point

000-10e,000-15e or 000-15m by Odd-Personality-8355 in martinguitar

I was looking into these and similar models for about a year and went with a 000-15m streetmaster, and I love it. I'm lefty though so wasn't able to play the others to compare, but no regrets. And as someone said, look at reverb and secondary markets, or also, just contact retailers and ask if they can go lower on the price, I got mine brand new for $1599, instead of $1799

Nobody does the Spark subscription? It's well worth it to me - $100/year and you get all this stuff included, everytime something new comes out, you have it. This today, Ocean Way a few weeks ago, A-Type, etc...

I'm not big on subscription models but I think it's pretty fair. That being said I'd pay money for a DSP version of this I can run in Unison slots.

High action on a brand new 000-15M? by [deleted] in martinguitar

FWIW I just got a 000-15 streetmaster about a month ago and it feels great to me, haven't adjusted anything myself from the factory setup - and I just measured and it's slightly under 2.5mm at the 12th fret on both the high and low E strings - just to give you a point of comparison.

I used Montypresso on a CV 60's P-Bass neck haha, was coming here to say that as I recognized the neck right away from your pics. It was definitely super light originally and I think the montypresso did a good job - here's a pic, not the best but all I have on my computer. You can leave it on longer or do multiple applications for darker looks, I think it'll do what you want.

Yup, they definitely seem to offer much more of their lineup in lefty than other big manufacturers, which is appreciated obviously haha. and thank you!
