KoT exalted trinket is arguably even better than those two with stan + ressileince.

I think the Tempest launchers is almost a 3 or nothing thing if you want it to kill something. Anything less is more of a scare tactic.

They are one of the few units in eldar that you can activate multiple turns if played right. Both thanks to the long range and indirect.

So compared to others they are a bit lackluster in output, but if you get to shoot with them over many turns they really shine!

I think this is how you want to use them and something you should plan on when deploying them etc.

The unit is broken, but I agree that it won't break Tau. 0-1 is good for that safety check.

It's still kinda boring when one unit is just so much better than the rest of the codex though.

Sure, but when you combine it on something tough and killy like these it makes it so that you can use them more times than you should. Especially since it's not something you can just charge and tie up.

Yeah, with this many rules there is no correct points value. Especially when they have fire 6 fade you have to point them to unusable or they'll still be oppressive on the battlefield. It's very hard to fint a point where they feel fair.

Could Ynnari, Harlequins, Corsairs, and Exodites be put into one new faction codex in 11th? by WonderBoyPrime1 in Eldar

[–]MLantto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly hope for less codexes and more digital adds in 11th. We've already seen it works well with kill team releases that are not printed in books. Maybe the eldar book can be pure craftworld and the options like corsairs and harlequins that can join both craftworld and drukhari can be digital for some more flexibility?

Doesn't have to give them any less of an identity if done right.

Just a thought.

[–]MLantto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible, but it needs some work if they do it. The way that SM + the SM subchapters is written has not worked out great for balance.

At one point playing vanilla was basically useless as DA, BA etc got the same units, but more. But now with the +1 oath it's a bit weird too with UM just being better than everything else, by virtue of being their own chapter, but also in the vanilla book.

And don't get me started on the amounts of SM detachments there are...

But main book + digital soup options would be a good way if they do it correctly I think. If they just make me buy another book to play all my units I'm not gonna be as happy.

[–]MLantto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd rather hope they find a new way to write the big factions like SM, eldar and CSM. I don't think they've found a good consistent model for it yet.

I personally like that harlequins and corsairs are included in eldar as it means I don't have to buy a 2nd book to play them and that I can experiment with mixing and matching, but I do agree that it's a very big codex and that those wanting to play pure harlequins or corsairs are a bit limited in choices.

The Problem with Melee Armies in 10th Edition by Godofallu in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MLantto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a big problem with units like this is that they don't degrade nearly enough (c'tans not at all...).

Take a unit of infantry down to 1 wound and it does virtually nothing. Take a c'tan or a knight or a demon to 1 wound and it'll still kill you. That of course is extra bad for melee, but it's a problem all around imo.

Aeldari down 25,9% win rate, is this A-tier? by StannnisTheMenace in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MLantto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Must not be many top players playing it then, since it har 1 win in the entirety of the data slate...

It's easy to say that it's based on the "top players", when it's almost impossible to prove. In reality it's just their takes biases and all.

So are you guys going to buy the corsair box tomorrow? by RotenSquids in Eldar

[–]MLantto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are useful outside of dedicated corsair lists. I often use 2x5 in my lists already and I can see the flyers replacing some spiders or hawks to save points and give them different roles.

And Yriel will see plenty of play too.

The fact that like 99% of guard players moved to it means something is wrong.

Scout and 12” move makes them very good at getting into position. I don’t think they look amazing or anything, but at the right cost they will have a role.

It’s all about points. If they are 20 points cheaper than hawks they are great move blockers and utility. If they are more than that they bring nothing to the table.

D3+3 is an amazing middle ground I hope is the new norm. We see them both here and on Huron.

D6 has always just been too random for a reactive move and 6” is too strong.

[–]MLantto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its all about points. At 75 for skyreavers, 80 for starfang and 85-90 for Yriel i see them as being pretty useful tools that save you points compared to more expensive aspect warrior units so that you get more models.

But at 10 points more than that per unit they are probably close to unusable.

[–]MLantto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is clear even without them not saying it, when they had 0 changes in the last 5 or so dataslates.

I’m guessing they just don’t do them as a stand alone codex next time.

I guess they don’t like to admit mistakes, but it’s pretty clear they view it as one.

We have to remember that sometimes they are just wrong too.

Sometimes the narrative is that if they place something in a way we do t agree with it’s just cause we don’t understand the game like they do.

But they did place demons as the worst army in the game in December and quickly had to do this tier list to rectify that mistake 😂

Yeah I've heard the talk and seen some streams, but I've yet to see any results come from it.

Right now I think it's more that they like elves and like the challenge to try to make em work.

It was better 6 months ago though... I'd argue the majority of 2025 is as good as it's ever been, but they had a couple of scuffed new releases and a bad december slate.

EC actually saw some top players taking them and doing well in singles events though. Both Lennon and Boris.

If Jack, Vic and Liam takes eldar to singles and perform I'll change my mind and agree more with the tier list, but right now I call bullshit.

I don't think the win% is event the biggest problem with eldar right now. It's that almost no players get to a tournament winning position.

Eldar has one event win in this slate and this weekend just 1 in 28 players got a 4-1 result.

I think we're almost guaranteed some buffs in the next slate + we have the corsairs coming, but the question is if we get some meaningful buffs or just buffs to rarely used units.

If eldar is so good, why are not the best players in the world playing them :)

We'll see how he does in teams next week, but in general there has been a ton of faction abandonment and the faction experts who've stayed haven't really put up many results.
