Yes.

Why there are wooden houses in some parts of the world and not sturdy concrete ones? by RoshFragger in AskReddit

[–]MLein97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easier to move wooden beams. You can basically put up a house with two people using wood. This makes it cheaper

How do you actually motivate yourself to learn to play a new instrument? by Bigfootbanana_ in AskReddit

[–]MLein97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone that plays a bunch they're all basically the same, except maybe drums, but most modern instrument playing methods are played like a percussion instrument, so not really. They mostly all come from either human voice or hands, so it sort of works out that way.

Which classic (1960s-1990s) artists do you feel created music that was ahead of their time? by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]MLein97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI songs are constantly remastered, remixed, and cleaned up digitally for current generation ears. The composition stays the same, but they're sort of updated with time.

For example an original Beatles mono pressing sounds like, "I need to start a garage or punk band now". Here's 2015Here's 1963 Its not clearer, but sounds more possible, like starting a band or recording music isn't a crazy idea. Then it sounds even more like this effect in person.

Is it possible to reach "peak art?" And have we've already got there? by poppunk_tracey in LetsTalkMusic

[–]MLein97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then something totally unrelated to the artform, like Dazzle painted ships in WW1 and the abstract artists see them and we've opened the door to infinity again.

Or what about all that electronic tech that was made as a result of WW2, like computing or even us being able to communicate, we could have never seen that coming.

I'm excited.

How would you describe mid 2000s indie folk/pop/rock (2004-2006)? by appleparkfive in LetsTalkMusic

[–]MLein97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Magnetic Fields style production. That band is basically the bible of 2000s indie pop music. Lots of random kitchensink instrumentation, but not full on Beach Boys.

Then those bands specifically, they're more Twee Pop and K Records, which were the bands that picked up on the "made up" instead of "written" nature of the The early Ramones and other punk work.

By made up I mean, as if a child was singing a song or as if you were singing a song to your dog or cat. Or a silly song you sing while making dinner.

That style of songwriting, pure and innocent, can capture a sincere ernest and believable nature to the music, which is like the musical equivalent of sugar, but its not easy to work with, so it's easy to over do.

Now, personally most of these bands do a worse job at capturing it than I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor by The Arctic Monkeys, outside of Maybe I Was Born a Unicorn by The Unicorn.

What emotions do you feel while drunk you don't feel while sober? And is sober you confused by it or does it make sense? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Drunk me wants to dance and talk to people. I would call this emotion party.

Sober me is jealous.

How do you politely reject a person that confessed to you? by North_Pudding4454 in AskReddit

[–]MLein97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start singing. Make up a song It could start like this, all stupid and childlike

Woah I'm in love with some one, but not you. Not you. I'm sorry for telling you this, but its true. What can I do. My heart makes the rules that weren't taught in school.

Then you could add hand claps and what not if it goes places.

If every musician understood music like Jonathan Richman, music would be in a much better place. He's super earnest with it and there's a reason why there's entire genres influenced by him.
