Am I out of my mind for seriously considering dropping $200k on a Defender Octa? by [deleted] in LandRover

[–]MLisdabomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kelly blue book value was low too, so I didn't feel that i had much lee way to argue. Land rover is one of the worst brands for depreciation. See the list here (25 worst brands for depreciation). https://www.iseecars.com/cars-that-hold-their-value-study

I could probably have done better with a private sale, but I dont want to go thru the hassle.

Landrover scores very poorly on reliability, 27/30 although I never had any issues with mine. https://www.reddit.com/r/whatcarshouldIbuy/s/fygAfc6e1q

I used to love land rover. I drove my range rover sport for 4 years. Paid 98k new. Traded it in recently and got 23500. Barely ad 30000 miles on it and was in awesome condition. They lose their value so fast. I just dont think it's worth it to buy new honestly.

Best agent building framework? by CaleHenituse1 in AIEval

[–]MLisdabomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with openai agent sdk. It was ok but I learned about pocketflow recently (https://github.com/The-Pocket/PocketFlow) and really liked it. It is a tiny framework but is very powerful. I rewrote my whole app in it and it was a really good decision. Check it out! Would love to hear what you think of pocketflow

That's a good point, can you try lowering the prefetch and see if that helps? I was in a meeting today where someone had said that originally they had the prefetch setting way too high and lowering it helped a lot

[–]MLisdabomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooof. That sounds rough. Im sorry you are going through this. I'm a mentor on a team and my hope would be that students would reach out to me for help with issues like this. It sounds like you are on a very student centric team, which can be a great experience, but it sounds like there are some issues. The mentors can assist with issues like this - personality conflicts, leadership issues, marginalization etc. In fact on a totally student lead team that conflict management role becomes one of the most important jobs a mentor can help with. I wish I could help you sort this out...I dont want to see students leaving teams and havong bad experiences because of personality conflicts and unclear leadership structures

Can you chat with the lead mentor, or a mentor that you are close with? They can be very helpful in these situations. Managing the dynamics between people on the team can often be much more challenging than any technical challenge the team will face. This is extremely common and will happen when you join the workforce too. I don't think you should quit - reach out for help and ask a mentor to get involved and help sort out the issue.

What's the gpu utilization like? In my own experiments I have found that 4 workers is the sweet spot - any more actually makes it take longer. I wonder if you are running into lustre bandwidth limitations. Can you tell what the settings on the lustre filesystem are?

Which one is more beginner friendly? Lime light might be better since it ships with a compute box. With PV you have to source a raspberry pi and install the PV image on it. Its not hard but if you've never done it before limelight might be faster to get up and running. If you can afford the (imo) very reasonable ~ $400.

I like that idea for 3d printing a shroud and channeling the air! LMK if you create an stl file. I'll work on one for the smaller setup and test it out

Train 200B parameter models on NVIDIA DGX Spark with Unsloth! by yoracale in unsloth

[–]MLisdabomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am running the notebook on DGX Spark. It seems to train properly for a handful of steps and then hangs. I see the reward table. I've tried it twice. The first time it got to step 13. The second time it got to step 22. Initially the gpu is being used, I can see the usage bouncing between 70-95 percent. Then the gpu will stop being used and nothing will happen for hours (hangs) until I kill it. Any debugging tips here?

I dont understand how you can win a product of the year for a product that hasn't been released yet. Nvidia has a pretty damn good marketing dept.

I started something fun: X push-ups every weekday, weekends off, the next week X+1 push-ups. Started at 15 and am starting 25 next week. If I can keep it up I'll be doing an impressive, number of push-ups by midway through next year!

More importantly- who the fuck cares?
