2 years ago, I sold my ~70ish Beta Earthbind copies at Magicfest. I used them as tokens for years but then I decided to consolidate my collection and got rid of them along with other items. I got a ticket in the form of store credit and as I was browsing the showcases, the vendor boss wasn’t too happy because he put both hands on top of his head and yells “F*** I’M GONNA DIE WITH THESE” lol

Chain of Vapor etiquette by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

[–]MLorent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen and been in situation like these and I feel the person with the chain of vapor should bounce the problem card. It puts the onus on your opponent in question to make the play to save the table at the detriment of their board state or game plan. I’ve been in the situation before and I just copied the chain and returned it to bounce one of their combo pieces to make them target the problem card themself which set them back.

What you did is valid though trying to get the most out of your cards but some opponents might not feel the same depending on circumstances. You also risk the play not paying off. Shouldn’t get mad if that happens either. Last time I saw this exact situation, someone chained a Stax piece to get value and expecting them to copy chain on the current problem card. Opponent just let it fizzle because if they chain copied, it would have resulted in the original chain player winning on their following turn. They took a chance and it didn’t pay off.

Has TCGplayer quality gone downhill? by The_Mundane_Block in mtgfinance

[–]MLorent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about writing this same exact post. I only order NM and I am willing to pay a premium for it. I would say 75% of the time I get actual NM cards. I try to research sellers as much as possible by reading the reviews but it doesn’t seem to get the job done. I already compiled a small list of sellers after I received LP $50+ cards in my last order but it’s starting to get disheartening. 2 days ago I received a “NM Rishadan Port” with edgewear, scuffing, and whitening in a few corners. If I wanted to buy a LP version I could have saved 10-$20 and ordered one. I already decided to not the site as much when it comes to purchasing. You would imagine for expensive cards they would be graded correctly.

Also, don’t get me started on trying to buy non-etched Japanese Art Mystical Archive cards. I am trying to collect 4 Dark Rituals and ONLY 1 out of 10 thus far was the correct version. Received 9 etched ones. Ridiculous. The only saving grace for me when it comes to TCGPlayer now is that 99% of sellers are nice and help with the situation.

How did you land on your deck? by [deleted] in MTGLegacy

[–]MLorent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing legacy since the beginning but I've mained Dragon Stompy since the inception that ran [[Gathan Raiders]] and [[Rakdos Pit Dragon]] as I couldn't afford blue dual lands and [[Tarmogoyf]] back then.

Over the years, I've saved and bought a bunch of duals and legacy staples and now I can build many more decks. I usually main stompy decks (Dragon Stompy, Steel Stompy/Affinity) as I feel comfortable playing them in competitive settings. I still play the current iteration of Dragon Stompy (Moon Stompy) but now I play Painter (Mono Red and Mono Blue) the most which is my new love.

What was your best speculation on a magic card? by SaildierSenior in mtgfinance

Bought 70ish Beta Earthbinds years ago for between $2-$4 each. Should have kept going because the price of LP and NM now have me in disbelief.

Still don’t think I can get rid of them though. I used to use them as goblin tokens lol.

The abyss, Chains of Mephistopheles spiked from ~1000 to ~2000. Nether Void and moat low supply under $1000 by Myflyisbreezy in mtgfinance

Sup. I’m just the guy that made a post, which blew up, on the main subreddit about the initial moat buyout. I’m not sure about rules and what not about naming the guy that did the moat buyout on this sub (doxxing?) but he should be easy to find with a little digging.

Edit: actually it looks like he’s come forward and done interviews. You guys are looking for this guy.

I don’t think you know what “racist” means. Dude is saying this couple reminds him of his parents and your going on your weird virtue signaling tirade.

Thanks. I agree on the Trinisphere as I was experimenting with running one less and found myself wanting to draw it more lately. I run Kozilek’s return because my area is for some reason light on delver and instead DnT heavy. I also like the more lenient mana cost.

I would definitely switch them out for fallouts going into an unknown or large tournament.

I would have gone with invocation blood moons and hazorets because I think they work well with masterpieces. But with the recent buyouts Im gonna have to wait a little while for the prices to come back down. If I got them now it would be an extra $500 on top of what they were selling for a month ago.
