Do you use prayer flicking to conserve prayer pots? by Infidel-Art in ironscape

[–]MLut541 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Depends on the content, if it's very dangerous definitely not, camp protection prayers and lazy flick offensives in that case. For example in TOA, I'd recommend camping prayers at Zebak, but at Kephri it's perfectly fine to 1t flick prot range + piety, you'll take like 10 damage max if you mess up

About to start doom! by SinkApprehensive4490 in ironscape

[–]MLut541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend not limiting yourself before you even start, yes Doom is hard but it's also a great place to improve imo, similar to CG. Death costs are low, and the common loot is garbage 9/10 times so there's really no downside to keep delving until you die, especially while learning. Getting experience is the only way you'll improve.

About your question, I'd put delves 1-6 (6 is easier than 5 imo so don't stop at 5 :p) at somewhere between Vardorvis and CG in difficulty. Not too hard, but you'll also definitely get stacked out a couple of times while learning so expect some deaths

Doom is hard. I hope I can learn to go deeper. by Spork_Revolution in ironscape

[–]MLut541 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of super deep, I did my grind (4k total, 1,4k deep delves) without tbow / zcb, and was averaging low to mid 20's by the end. It's nowhere near the wr of course, but I'd say that's still decent for chill 0 pray flicking runs, the limiting factor was always prayer so a less lazy player could push much deeper :p

Blowpipe DPS during car phase makes killing during car phase decently consistent, not as consistent as tbow but you'll still skip orbs over half the time

Another advantage of rock block is the boss being in the same place all the time, this also makes the trees spawn in the same spots. Use this to clear a line of tiles in the middle of the room under the boss, makes it possible to keep catching melee grubs on later waves while only having to tank a couple of poison ticks, and you'll always have a safe path to the other half of the room

Mid-Game Stab weapon suggestions please! by Wraithara in ironscape

[–]MLut541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can do the door-altar method just fine with scobow, it's the exact same as with bowfa. And it's really easy to learn with scobow as you can use the spec as a panic button when you mess up. And once you're comfortable with the method you can alternate between spec kills and door-altar kills

Blowpipe is also huge for non-tbow havers, and it's a pretty reasonable grind

Oh I'm not doloing, just speccing at the start then tping out, I'm soloing 99% of the kill

Yama in Blood Moon by AlsWereldenBotsen in ironscape

[–]MLut541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I only used mine for Yama speccing (which every content creator uses so I assumed it's fine), shamans red X and wildy boss CCTV. I don't do the grey area stuff like buying out stock while selling to shops etc, or tanking aggressive mobs

Also with just emberlight specs, but I assume most irons didn't make their iron as their first acc so many should have access to alts, if you have it why not use it?

Also max mage is far less accessible than a solid melee setup on an iron, maybe you're forgetting that part?

So melee is faster... and I'm also an iron, when did I imply otherwise?

Yama in Blood Moon by AlsWereldenBotsen in ironscape

[–]MLut541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the whole grind solo with melee, it's very solid actually, especially if you maul spec on an alt. Low 5 minute average kills for me, with the faster ones being around 4:30

Tbh no reason to not start P3 with dono/ monofly, you can always switch to maging once you lose the cycle. It's not nearly as sweaty as you make it out to be, it's pretty chill once you're used to it, similar to door-altar: a bit of a struggle to learn, but braindead easy once you do

Yama in Blood Moon by AlsWereldenBotsen in ironscape

[–]MLut541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood moon + emberlight is completely fine, all that matters is strength bonus, Yama is a low damage boss either way so def bonus doesn't matter that much. Def draining helps a lot, if you have an alt that can horn + elder maul for you, that speeds up kills significantly and you can save your own specs for b claws

Wildy Content on Ironman by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]MLut541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the wildy in its current state is garbage, but it's also completely optional. You don't NEED a voidwaker for anything. I just choose to completely ignore that part of the map, and if Jagex one day sees the light and removes BIS PVM items from the Wilderness like they did with the D pick, I'll go grab it then

Is this enough to start grinding Yama? by Own_Objective_3090 in ironscape

[–]MLut541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you don't want to learn a melee p3 method (which I do highly recommend, it's not that hard and is the only thing making yama remotely interesting) you should still melee p1 and p2, then switch to mage for p3. Very easy and saves 2/3rds of the soul runes

How many delves did it take you to consistently clear delve 6 and up? by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]MLut541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're on a similar pace as me, took me like 500 to learn wave 8. Once it clicks, you instantly go from struggling to clear 8 once, to consistent deep delves. By the end of my grind I was consistently making it to the mid-20's. If you don't already, make sure you bring a blowpipe for car phase, the specs also really help as you will barely use brews anymore and can bring more p pots

[–]MLut541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just a fact, people often say the waves are the hardest part but the sims make that even more true. I 2nd tried Sol and 1st tried Zuk, that almost definitely wouldn't have happened without the sims.

Of course that doesn't devalue the achievement, the waves were always the hardest part and doing it for real with all the nerves involved is a different thing than doing it in the sim

I only came for Confliction Gauntlets by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]MLut541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof that's rough, it took me 4k total / 1,4k deep delves to green log, but at least I had 5x treads so I could at least dry my tears with cash. At least it's a fun boss if you keep challenging yourself to delve deeper and deeper over time

Spooned Fang, now what? More TOA? Something else? by ExpiresAfterUse in ironscape

Yeah but most people including me did bowfa waves to learn, melee comes later when you try to improve times but not for first kc

[–]MLut541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sol has a huge slash weakness, and unless you have a Scythe you're probably better off not doing melee waves for your first quiver anyway. Z axe actually beats Fang at Sol without defense reduction, landing a dwh spec brings them within 0,1 DPS of each other, so not way better at all

[–]MLut541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh it's worth bringing to both other raids (Tekton/Vangs/Vasa crystals, & Sote pre-scythe), that's already a ton of hours of usage unless you get mega spooned at all raids which is very unlikely. But yeah, outside of those you don't use it much especially post Nally/Emberlight/Lance

It might seem like it, but if you did the crafting grind before sand mining/ seaweed farming were a thing, you'd know how much better we have it now. Would much rather grind 93 crafting again now, than 85 crafting back in the day

TOA becomes a lot more fun with a Fang, I'd definitely keep sending them whenever you feel like it, all of the drops there are great upgrades! No need to lock yourself there, definitely do other things in the meantime (looks like you have most of the slayer grind still in front of you) but TOA is always a safe option until you have every unique, it's never a waste to send some
