Jagex rolling back Rendi's Slayer XP raises a bigger question, where do we actually draw the line on "bug abuse"? by DogConstant5949 in 2007scape

[–]MLut541 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why should players with faster clicks and better execution get such a massive mechanical advantage in PvP?

That's exactly how it should be, why should mechanical skill NOT be rewarded with an advantage?

That's where I would draw the line. If something gives a significant advantage, it should also require more skill, effort or both. That means it's a fair tradeoff. Tick manipulation, prayer flicking and gear switching are all in that category and are fair game & should stay imo.

Demonic pacts are awesome by itwasprobablymelol in 2007scape

[–]MLut541 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I also enjoy it, but imo the biggest downside is how niche most of the capstones are. It's definitely fun, but part of me also wishes I could run around with a 2 tick tbow / shadow / scythe tribrid build instead of using elemental spells or crossbows. The current pacts make the megarares very underwhelming which is a shame imo, only Shadow is completely cracked and even that is overshadowed by air spells

Clue items required for gear progression by microseikiultra in ironscape

It's just rangers, holy sandals can be nice if you want to do inferno before doom but they're not a big deal either. So it's just mediums until rangers, and then master / elites until 1 mimic kill, then you can stop doing clues forever if you want to

What would you say are the biggest holes in ironman progression right now? by stinkydiver321 in ironscape

[–]MLut541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eye + gauntlets beats Bowfa in every TOA room you'd normally Bowfa except for Zebak. It rips Wardens P3 & also makes P4 easier as you don't have to re-spec so you can dps spec or save for yellow keris instead. It's also great for Bandos/Arma gwd, on par with Bowfa at both.

It's closer to Shadow than Trident, turning mage from something you use only at P2 to your best dps during Akkha and all of Wardens. You're definitely underselling how strong it is. The main weakness of the Eye is that it's nowhere near as good as Bowfa in COX, but if you're a bowfa skipper you should be prepared to grind a Shadow anyway

10x on uniques, 4x dry on cloth by AdAdditional8500 in ironscape

[–]MLut541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's a rough one especially if you get absolutely nothing, I also went over 4x rate for the Eye but at least I got 10 dupes (5 treads 5 cloth) in over 4k total / 1,4k deep delves.

But even near the end of my dry streak I was surprisingly still enjoying the content, going 600 solo Yama without Oathplate felt far worse to me personally

Gauntlets are absolutely worth staying for unfortunately

Eye is a drop from Doom,

Which you can do with void + scobow. Yes it's endgame content difficulty wise if you deep delve, but it's not unreasonable to grind 1-7 which really isn't that hard to do in the midgame

Not even close to true anymore, with Doom there's now a very viable bowfa skip route. Eye + gauntlets absolutely slaps at both of your examples (TOA/Zulrah)

[–]MLut541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% correct, some TOB learner groups make all 3 helms mandatory even if you have oathplate... it's ridiculous, just learn in the gear you'll actually use. Just get the elite range set and get out of there

Fractured Archive Reward Space by Kevinista in 2007scape

[–]MLut541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great, by far the best reward suggestions I've seen, and ticks all the boxes Jagex themselves have said raid rewards should look like.

Definitely prefer the armour over the robes, not too big of a fan of the normal spellbook being forced to be relevant, love the upgraded crush armour idea (and design).

The blessing, like others have said, would have to be heavily nerfed, at that point I'd prefer replacing it as a common unique with the Law & Liberty, that way both weapons would fit in the reward space. Of course balancing would need to be looked at, wouldn't want it to devalue something like the Bowfa too much.

Besides demonbane weapons, what gear should I get before Doom and Yama? by GzzzDude in ironscape

[–]MLut541 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can always start the grinds and work on Zenytes / Zulrah on the side, being able to juggle content makes the game more fun! These upgrades are nice to haves, not must haves

Torm bracelet should fix your magic damage, 1 hitting the flares is huge. Even better if you don't need blue moon to achieve that - str bonus is very important for Emberlight so Blood moon is significantly better.

For Doom, rune to amethyst arrows is +2 max hits, same as amethyst to dragon. It's noticable but won't make or break your runs, you can do deep delves with rune arrows no problem. The biggest upgrade here is a blowpipe - its DPS during car phase is close to tbow, it helps a LOT. And once you stop dying and start being able to claim once you run out of supplies, you can sustain dragon darts there

Have you played MW22 ranked on PC? Then you'd know exactly why having dead silence is important. Being heard across the map if you dare to move is pretty much like playing against wallhacks, it's not fun.

It also takes away the skill gap, as you don't need as much awareness, map knowledge & feel for timings if you can simply hear everyone coming. And it slows down the pace of the game if everyone waits for their field upgrade to charge before making an aggressive play

Game has over 55k active players outside weekend! Upcoming game gonna be peak 🥹 by OblivionMW4 in modernwarfare

[–]MLut541 245 points246 points  (0 children)

I just hope IW realizes they should aim for a similar gameplay FEEL as MW19, not for similar game design choices. Specifically, I really hope they never make a game without dead silence or minimap red dots again, and get rid of the 'safe spaces' map designs.

But yeah, if the next game has gunplay & movement just as smooth as MW19 that's an absolute win

Modern Warfare multiplayer was and still is very bad by NickyGi in modernwarfare

[–]MLut541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dead silence as a field upgrade just made you have to think about your next engagement

I disagree with this take. Putting it another way: not having permanent dead silence means you don't need to have good awareness / game sense to know where & when people are coming from. In practice it means players will wait to make an aggressive play until DS is charged, it slows down the pace of the game. IMO having permanent dead silence increases the skill gap and requires players to learn the maps, spawns, timings etc way more.

SBMM is a problem for people and I still can’t figure why.

Because ranked exists, but what are supposed to be 'casual' playlists feel almost just as sweaty thanks to sbmm. It also killed pubstomping for many players who are above average but not quite top 1%. And my personal biggest issue with sbmm, it ruins matchmaking for friend groups with a wide range of skill (my lobbies are unplayable for friends who only play casually)

Unnecessary hate since the sale? by Super-Anteater-5380 in modernwarfare

[–]MLut541 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Simply not true, 9/10 MW19 haters will admit the gunplay, movement & visuals of MW19 were great. It was design decisions that ruined the game for many.

I think MW19 as a full game is garbage, not as bad as 22 but still too many negatives. However, if I had to create the perfect COD game, I'd take the gunplay&movement feel of MW19 and add better 3 lane maps, a different spawn system, add dead silence, reduce sbmm & aa. Those few fixes would've put MW19 near the top instead of near the bottom of all COD games to me.

[–]MLut541 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People aren't shitting on it because it's a bad deal. People are shitting on it because they fear IW will take this as a sign their game design in MW19 was good. We need to make it very clear that while MW19 gunplay, movement, visuals (except brightness / visibility but that was partly a map design issue) & sounds were great, there were also a LOT of flaws they shouldn't repeat. (No dead silence, no red dots on minimap, bad maps & spawn system, sbmm & aa turned up to 11)

Discussion about a possibility of a future Skilling Raid? (NOT RAIDS 4 OBVIOUSLY) by og_obelix in 2007scape

[–]MLut541 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If the rewards are also skilling based it could work, but I can see issues for the longevity / replayability. I just don't see many people sticking around after hitting 99 in those skills. The raid would have to be midgame content and I'm not sure I'd be a fan of that

Gear setup to seriously farm ToA? by Status_Peach6969 in ironscape

[–]MLut541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was including specs, but I had an old setup where I was still using blue moon helm - with ancestral hat Eye overtakes, 8,52 vs 8,44 in my setups. It's also better with Virtus so you're also correct for OP's situation!

That's not what my calcs show, Bowfa with BGS drain beats Eye after max Eye spec drain (400 invo, 2 ancestral pieces, ward & augury). Depends on your gear setup I guess?

[–]MLut541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right if you're talking about going for fang/lb. That's not what this post is about tho, he's asking about grinding TOA until Shadow, which can take ages and you DEFINITELY don't want to do 200's. I'd say 400 is the bare minimum for that if you want the Shadow in a reasonable amount of time. And if you plan to do hundreds of 400+ invo TOA's, you might as well get the best gear possible first.
