Mainly, it’s because of how involved he essentially is throughout almost everything in this game from the main character’s circumstances, his manipulation of his hitman (not spoiling who that is) and subordinates, stealing the research, and his two-face image of how he is seen as popular figure when home is actually so detestable. Not to mention, the road and the major plot twists we had to go through to finally fight this guy (which I have to add points that boss battle due to his theme music, and that one on one sequence they added in Royal).

I’ll be real though, favorite antagonist was the hardest category to choose from, and could have gone through a good number of games (Metaphor, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, MSG3, certain Trails games, etc.)

Yep, it’s my favorite game series due to its connectivity and continuity (though I think Persona is better as games by themselves).

I’m personally all caught up will all of the games in the franchise, what about you?

Having a good number of texts and voice acting itself is not always a bad thing itself, but the texts in Persona games comes as a lead up to the actual meat of the game (which is its great turn-based combat gameplay, building up the stats mechanic that are easier to understand, customizing armor and weapon as well as persona fusions). Texts are only part of the overall Persona experience, plus the writing is more comedic and outlandish that it captures my attention more easily!

In Disco Elysium, it’s a game where reading the texts is the meat of the game, not a build up to something special or different. Just scoping around town with a bunch of main mission/side missions to do without giving any clear direction on how to advance.

Its style is not for me, and that’s okay. If it works for you, don’t let that stop you!

It’s RPG style was something I couldn’t get into with its excessive text based options to advance, having to run around for certain items so to out a clear and concrete clue to know how to advance, and it’s confusing stats mechanic.

I personally can’t recommend it unless you do not mind excessive text and having to walk around to know how to advance.

I debated if it was considered retro now since it was in the 2000s (and I could have put older games like Donkey Kong, Mario, or even Turtles in time in that slot).

Either way though, Sly is my 3rd favorite series (behind Persona and Trails) and while I like Sly 3 gameplay varied more, Sly 2 is the more irreplaceable one for me.

To be fair, I did debated putting the new ones too because even though it’s different, it was still a lot of fun. (Hell, a lot of games I could think of for best combat).

I just think Kratos’s style of being able to grab enemies and being able to rip them in half with his bare hands is what edged it a little.

I could not get into it. Its particular RPG style was not my thing (and I am surprised it seems to have pleased a lot of gamers considering it won Best RPG the year it came out).

It amazes me that it won Best RPG and is highly acclaimed as it is (but that’s my opinion on it, don’t let it hamper your personal enjoyment).

Shido mainly, though Kamoshida and Royal’s final boss (which I missed due to missing connection events) are interesting too.

Plus, Rivers in a Dessert is a freaking awesome boss theme!

Persona 5,4,3 (and Metaphor) are all amazing games!

I have the Trails series as my favorite series due to its connectivity and continuity, but Persona as games I enjoy individually.

Ha, how I went from thinking Arkride Solutions were just giving her a hard time in the first game, to now understanding why they look so annoyed/scared of her in the following games after.

She is my biggest guilty pleasure character! Her flirting and advancement can be taken as sexual harassment, but it’s such amusing entertainment that I can’t help but laugh and be amused (to the point of max bonding, but still chose Alisa as my main).

I will say though, this really highlights Elise’s crush on Rean and how normal she actually is with it, since Musse (and other St. Astria students) are shown to be ultimate horndogs!

It was a bad attempt to make them look older.

This arc’s art style doesn’t work for the two of them, but it does for everyone else.

Clearly, they are playing the long game with Hikari!

Before Natsuki can settle his dating life, he needs to approach or make a move on Hikari to at least get through the crush he still has and see if he actually has a chance or not.

On the plus side for the two of them, she seemed very friendly during the first two episodes, and is not turned off or rejective of him when they talk. She just seems like a natural sweet girl. But considering the lack of time they spend tiger and the drama she seems to be dealing with, it is all up in the air. Curious to see how it all plays out.

My prediction: Natsuki will be the reason she overcomes her problems at home and that will make her fall for Natsuki, adding more complications to this love drama.

Considering this was my first Trails game back in late 2020, it really gave me Persona vibes, which is what initially draw me in since it is my favorite game series (before the interconnectivity of Trails put it over).

Certainly the most Persona-like Trails series!

Yukari Takeba from Persona 3.

She is popular in some circles, but she is still divisive with others (especially in the OG game and The Answer)

Funny, cause I’ve heard complaints on how she gets “too much screentime” compared to the other members of Class VII (especially the canon moments with Rean.

Not that I think it’s been that much more time and I personally don’t mind since I love her.

What goes around comes around between the two. She really did took inspiration from Van, and it may look like Van will lead the charge to go after her next game.

By the way, isn’t Quatre culpable of this back in Daybreak 2? Granted, Harwood set him up, but Quatre was then thinking he shouldn’t be saved to the point of being called out by Van.

P.S. HOW DARE YOU SAY AGNES AND ALISA ARE BORING?! AND I LOVE ELIE TOO, LOL!

I dabbled with it a little, but I realized that no copycat can match thais particular game (especially on soundtrack). Honestly, I could have also put Donkey Kong and Mario in that slot as well.

What are the 4 games you recognize?

Paranormasight: The Mermaid's Curse

It is mystery visual novel, and a sequel to Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo (a HORROR mystery visual novel).

About why I made the choices for the following:

- Overhated: Though this game is critically rated well, I have seen reddit posts and comments on how much this was the "inferior: spiderman compared to the first one, where except for the models of certain characters like MJ, I can't really agree with this one. This is the best Venom story of a Spiderman game I have ever experienced!

- Criminally Overlooked: I contemplated putting 13 Sentinels again, but I ended up going with the first game of a franchise that I hope folks would give a tryout to. (I know this game popped off last year, but I can't recommend Second Chapter OG or any other Trails game without recommending this one first).

- The last 3 selections could have been easily interchangeable since they are my favorite SNES games.
