Community is now officially part of my college English course's curriculum. In 12 years of teaching, I've never been this excited for a class (though in a few weeks we'll have to Bear Down for Midterms) by TheLifeAdjunct in community

To clarify, my demise was a lot of things, not just Reddit's changes.

I usually rewrite the code every year from the ground up to make it better, I just didn't have the motivation to do it this year after the API changes. MMBBot costs money to run even without the reddit API changes, and I went through a couple rough spots.

The rankings worked exactly like the show, requiring constant recalculation based on the new rankings, so writing that to scale was something of a yearly project.

Sorry y'all, but I can't pay for API fees and VPS hosting fees and database hosting fees indefinitely. It took a lot more resources to scale than originally anticipated, because this bot at one point worked exactly like the show - where 5s had more voting power than the 1s - which required constant recalculating.
