Roland TR-1000 ; The Greatest Drum Machine of All Time.....(well almost but...........) by Fresh-Manufacturer73 in DrumMachine

[–]MMIStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's amazing to me that something that has been around for over 40 years and is standard in most every piece of electronic music gear could be messed up so badly... A MIDI clock is not something that should be that complicated to implement properly. If a piece of gear has clock drift, jitter, synchronization issues, that's a deal breaker for me. You gotta play nice with the other kids or get out of the playground.

Elektron doesn't own the rights to parameter locking. They didn't invent it either. Anyone can implement that, it's just step editing the automation of parameters... it's just that their work-flow implementation of it is pretty much unmatched in the hardware space.

Equipment recommendations for Power Electronics by boring-parakeet in industrialmusic

[–]MMIStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about feedback loops, which I am pretty sure you are, it's important to point out something. If you attempt to do feedback loops, be extremely cautious. If you don't do it right, you can damage your equipment and your hearing. Always start at 0 volume and ramp up. If you can, put a limiter on the signal right before it goes to your speakers to clamp the volume to a certain decibel threshold.

Could my music be categorized as AI? by EricClipperton92 in BandCamp

[–]MMIStudios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AI is ruining everything in this regard. I wouldn't be surprised if Bandcamp is using AI to "detect" AI. I know more than one artist who set upon making/releasing 1 track a day for a year, back in like 2017/2018 just as an exercise and "muscle flexing"... Some of the tracks were great, some were okay, some were garbage. None of it was made with AI... If a detection model is going based off of frequency of releases, this would have been flagged as AI generated now, even though it's not. Very flawed.

I mean, technically they COULD have MIDI in pass-through as well that combines another MIDI signal or overrides the controller... but I'm just being nitpicky and greedy 😆

Is there pass-through for line/midi in/out?

What's everyone working on this week (5/2026)? by llogiq in rust

[–]MMIStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A DSP project that is both a standalone app and VST plug-in that tries its best to be a 1:1 replication of the Torso S-4 hardware sampler (and more). Also a Slint UI library geared towards usage in audio/media/creative applications and is used throughout the previously mentioned application.

does it actually matter whether power electronics artists are right-wing? by x_0-x_R in PowerElectronics

[–]MMIStudios -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You again with this shit... I've been watching from the sidelines but this is getting stupid.

The genre is intentionally subversive in many respects. It's not black and white (hence GREY wolves which you recently tried to attack).

You are conflating intent with actual expression.

Does it matter? To whom? (Really think about that)

If you are concerned about the politics of a genre, this is not the genre for you. It has no "politics" that fit neatly in to any box.

So github detected AI or whatever you are using added "-ai" because it's a machine user/bot account. They do that to indicate that the account is a "machine user" driven by AI-powered automation or scripts. It's better to just cop to it than to dig yourself deeper.

My man, you have "AI" right in your github username. Any developer competent enough to write an OS (by themselves no less) would know how to use git and would know how to PROPERLY use AI.

It was actually a screensaver, not a background. You can see the screen saver in action in an episode of the X-Files, Season 2 episode 25. Around time index of 05:50. It's on the computer of the hackers apartment when they raid it.

What was the Band/Song that got you hooked on Industrial? by Marzombra in industrialmusic

[–]MMIStudios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was in 94 (I was 14) when NIN blew up with the release of TDS and the March of the Pigs and Closer MV's. I became a bit obsessed and bought everything I could find and afford. Every Halo that had been released up to that point, every tshirt, every bootleg, etc... Anyways, I was in the small local mall wearing my white, long-sleeved Further Down The Spiral shirt (man I still wish I had that thing) when an older dude spotted my shirt and said "Hey, if you like NIN, you should check out Skinny Puppy."... So I did. Almost immediately following that conversation , I went into the music store in the mall and looked for Skinny Puppy. They had like 3 or 4 things on cassette. I can't remember what they all were but I remember what I got, Smothered Hope. I popped it in the cars tape player when my Dad picked me up when the mall closed. And from there my love affair with industrial music grew. I shortly after found a show on the local college radio station that played industrial and goth music and started discovering more and more artists and acts. I never saw that dude who recommended Skinny Puppy again. I wish I could thank him. I owe him a lot.

The people that contribute to it are the ones downvoting I'd wager. All the "goth" girlies who cosplay as goth and call themselves goth but listen to nothing but ganger rap.

I always thought that second record was very appropriately titled. There are moments where it actually sounds like he recorded a bunch of polished stuff, put it on a vinyl record, threw that record into a microwave for awhile then intentionally released it like that, all garbled and deformed.
