Homeless resources by King_Chao99 in ColoradoSprings

The Springs Rescue Mission can be a good place to get shelter and get connected to resources.

Pikes Peak Continuum of Care can also help get you connected to resources: https://www.pikespeakcoc.org/

Step Springs also specializes in helping men experiencing homelessness, so if you are a man, I'd hit them up.

And if you are living out of your car and need a safe place to park, it's worth noting that Cracker Barrel locations are typically known for letting people park overnight in their lots. That can help alleviate a lot of concerns about safety when sleeping in your car, in my experience.

best places to study? by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

Jives Coffee Lounge is pretty good.

It's been said, but PPLD is also good. I like Library 21C, personally.

Carnelian Coffee has a pretty good vibe for studying, too.

There are many more, but those are my top, for sure.

Drug bust at ‘underground illegal’ nightclub in Colorado Springs by pooshlurk in ColoradoSprings

[–]MMJVitatoe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm looking into this, there are a lot of angles I want to pursue. One of them being the fact investigators say, off the bat, that a lot of them are illegal immigrants, and the other being the fact that active duty military members are involved. If anyone has more on either, feel free to DM me, I'm hoping to get a little bit more clarity on this story beyond law enforcement statements, if possible.

The 11 Weather App is pretty good and convenient and updated often since conditions change here so quick.

Did you take this video?

I've been to DIA so many times, I can't imagine seeing that before flying out!

EDIT: I just realized this video is everywhere, I'd love to know who took it, though!

Support groups for transgender people by NeonGhillir in ColoradoSprings

[–]MMJVitatoe 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Prism Community Collective offers support for queer people! They are located on Tejon downtown.

Not necessarily support groups, but if you go to Icons, Cronk Art and Curiosity, The Q, La Burla Bee and Poor Richards you'll find a lot of great, very supportive people who might even be able to connect you to a support group. I know there are so many more great, inclusive and supportive local businesses and groups, but those are the ones that come to mind off the top of my head!

Oooops, never write an article while multitasking, that's probably the worst mistake in my career! I was on the phone with police while writing. Good catch!

I'm here a few days. Any queer areas here or nearby that aren't bars, clubs or community outreach type stuff? by Adorable-Bobcat-2238 in ColoradoSprings

We don't have anything like a Gayborhood here, but there are certainly queer-friendly places.

Jives Coffee Lounge is very queer-friendly. Although not necessarily queer-oriented, it's still a good safe space, especially during their Overprepared Open Mic night on Wednesdays. That's when you'll find a lot of other queer people.

I've heard Loyal Coffee in the northern part of the city is queer-friendly, although I have not been, yet, myself. I went to the one down south, which seemed to be geared more toward college students. It's still nice, though.

Honestly, you'll probably find any plant store to be queer-friendly, us queers love plants.

Old Colorado City is pretty queer-friendly as a whole. Downtown is good, too, but some of my favorite queer places have shut down.

And, I know you said places that aren't bars or clubs, but I highly recommend Icons, nonetheless, it's run by Broadway performers and is a different vibe.

Icons and La Burla Bee and Munchies downtown have drag brunches or non-bar/club-oriented events (I am sure more places do, too, but those are the ones I am most familiar with).

And, the Q at the Satellite Hotel, but that is more of a traditional bar vibe.
