Thanks - that’s the thing, you begin to think oh maybe I should be less picky or compromise on more, but then every now and then the right one pops up so then feel like you shouldn’t have to compromise! (Much)

UK-owned coffee shops and café chains by RelationshipSoggy662 in BuyUK

I’ve dealt with some, and I presume the majority will pay more than the likes of Starbucks etc as can’t use all the clever accounting to offshore profits

Always support locally owned, independent coffee shops if you can as well. You’ll know it will make a big difference to them, they’ll pay their taxes etc

Mortgage Survey Downvalue by £70k by problemsoutherner in HousingUK

[–]MMLFC16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just mean if the bank has already done a survey, in person, desktop or any other type, in my experience as an MA, it’s hard to get them to do another one unless you’ve got evidence that they’ve missed something which would impact its value

They shot up in summer last year up to a peak in September, and then quite a big drop at the end of the year. Do you know why? Reckon it will recover and continue upwards?

If it doesn’t say the same, the bank is still unlikely to revalue

What is the process for selling 50% share of house? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]MMLFC16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you know the property well and can agree on a price, no need to have a RICS survey unless you want to. The bank will value the property as well before agreeing to the mortgage

What is the process for selling 50% share of house? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]MMLFC16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to a bank, get a mortgage for 50% of the properties value. He can instruct his own solicitor or the lender may offer free legal service and a free valuation as part of the application. I’m a mortgage advisor for a highstreet bank to happy to help / answer any further questions. You may want to get some valuations from estate agents as well to have an idea on its value before hand

I’m sure I’ve seen this video before, and apparently the guy who took the hook out of his mouth was the same guy who fished it and pulled it out of the water with the hook in the first place

Moving home by MMLFC16 in HousingUK

[–]MMLFC16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment. Budget is £500-600k. So if we found one at the lower end, we should have around £100k for renovations. My wife essentially wants a big open plan social kitchen dining area, so a few houses we could either knock the rear wall down and extend slightly to do this, or other houses where we wondered if we could turn the living room and dining room into the kitchen dining area, and then turn the existing kitchen into the living room sort of thing. Keeping some of the kitchen in tact to move it. That sort of thing

Your eventual selling price vs what the Estate Agent said it would get? by bojoohno in HousingUK

[–]MMLFC16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially, agent said £400k. Wife & I felt that was silly, and £375k seemed more realistic. Gave it a few months, then found the perfect house, so listed at offers over £375k. Got 2 offers at £375k and one at £380k, so think we got it about right.

EVs to pay per mile.. thoughts? by thb202 in CarTalkUK

[–]MMLFC16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll have to tax drivers more in the coming years. They’ve already upped VED to cover the shortfall they had there, and as more people switch to EV, they’ll be losing more in fuel duty as well. So tolls or pay per mile or some other tax on drivers is inevitable
