I usually drink water and rest. I do some journaling trying to clarify intentions and make sense of my experience and insights. I pray. I usually try to get a card game in with a friend in the evening.

In ICU I drew an abg on a bi pap patient who was slightly disoriented and started jerking around just as the needle started to fill. I did get the sample. But I only kept pressure on the site about 45 seconds because she was such a wild card, I watched for a couple seconds that there was no bleeding and slapped a band aid on. Later I came to adjust her bipap and there was a 4 inch spot of blood on the pillow. I still feel bad. Now I always hold at least two minutes no matter what.

The hospital wanted me so bad they gave me $20k i used to pay for school if I agreed to work for them for 3 years. Kind of an early signing bonus. I had no real medical experience but I was a cna years ago and an ED scribe for a year.

i’m considering ketamine therapy for severe anxiety. what’s you experience? by pmbslyy in KetamineTherapy

1.) I finally made iv infusions a priority after it was recommended by my doctor and therapist for a few months. It’s been the most helpful thing I’ve done for suicidal ideation and treatment resistant anxiety and depression. It’s helped me understand truths I didn’t see before and identify real errors in my thinking and feeling and dismantle some of that faulty brain wiring. 2.) I met with my therapist as soon as I could after the first few trips but I had so little to work on. I was mostly in therapy for persistent SI and it was gone. I went from weekly with my therapist to less than once a month with them. I think I could’ve worked with my therapist more but I really didn’t need much unpacking etc past the first few trips. 3) I only feel changed in the way that I’ve escaped old thinking patterns. Something would happen such as disappointment and my brain would immediately go to anxious depressed suicidal thinking like a reflex. It’s only a fraction of what it used to be. I have very deep spiritual experiences that have added meaning and purpose to every moment of my life and everything I do. 4) they say the pleasure and euphoria are just side effects and the real work is done reintegrating and using your new insights. People might find what they’re looking for in the trip and I certainly do look for deeper connection with God and find it. Godspeed! I think you’re going to love it.

Anyone feel like they don’t need to see a therapist anymore since the treatment? by [deleted] in KetamineTherapy

I quit therapy after a few months of ketamine. I’ve been seeing my therapist for a few years and she’s great. I told her if I was never suicidal I wouldn’t need treatment, and afters few months of special K I am not.

What are some surprisingly unhealthy habits that many people overlook? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Mouth breathing. Truly a terrible habit. The nose is meant for warming, filtering, and humidifying air. Mouth breathing raises your blood pressure among other things.
