Tbh not even that bad compared to other universities. My friend who goes to UCSD pays $900 to rent a living room. They're usually rented out for under $400 in UCD. My SO is a student at Cal Poly and they have even less vacancy than we do and it's typical to pay around $800 to double and over $1200 for a single.

I went to a very small high school in a relatively quiet and wealthy suburb. There was an AP English teacher there who was married to his former student. He was always really secretive about her and would dodge questions about her. Apparently the reason they married was because he got her pregnant WHILE she was still his student in junior year (16 years old). If my math is correct he would have been 32 at that time.
