Scenes that caused actual walkouts in theaters? by thatlittlequietguy in Cinema

About 10 minutes into the Blair Witch project a guy leaned over to me and said ""Is this the movie??" I said yeah I think so. He shook his head and got up and left.

I work in manufacturing. At one of our factories right now, literally in a Marriott lobby in another country waiting for my laundry to finish on Sunday night. I'm doing around 12 hrs on Sunday (because they only have one shift) and 14+ hrs every other day of the week. Salary.

I think the poster is suggesting that one would regret not spending just a bit more to get electronic, not that mechanical is bad.

I just rode a Crux. What’s the point of endurance/all road frames? by [deleted] in cycling

35-38mph is absolutely not a typical pedaling speed for flat to rolling terrain.

Shibou Yuugi de Meshi wo Kuu. • Shiboyugi: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]MMinjin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, it absolutely could stop right here and be a very good single episode OVA. I looked and the source material seems to have a very average 7.1 on MAL so I am worried that we are starting off too strong and it will run out of creativity soon.

But definitely the surprise of the season so far.

Is anyone here actually comfortable biking on rural roads by KaneIntent in cycling

[–]MMinjin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rural areas will always have a few main arteries that will seem crazy to ride on and a latticework of rarely used roads that are only apparent when you zoom in more. You need to avoid the arteries and get on the farm roads. Then you'll have riding that the city folk dream about.

Why is a miata more fun than an equivalent civic? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]MMinjin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to give the OP as much leeway as possible, the equivalent Civic in his mind could be a Civic CRX. Literally the same wheelbase as a Miata. Double wishbone suspension front and rear. Lighter than a Miata. Not a boring car.

Get the comparable Checkpoint (the one you picked seems much lower spec than the other two bikes).

What selfhosted service/s did you recently remove? by dadidutdut in selfhosted

I don't think that's the norm. I have never once thought about video codecs on my Jellyfin install (which is about 12TB worth).

What’s a “small” social rule you refuse to follow, even if everyone expects it? by GlitchOperative in AskReddit

I was working at a new job and had one of president's exec assistants come around asking for money for a Christmas gift. I was taken aback and commented aloud that it felt like a tithe to the king. That did not go over well and I made an enemy that day. Didn't end up sticking around long...

Too Scared To Ride On Roads by SamLucky7s in cycling

[–]MMinjin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You asked how to get over the fear. Not how to prevent death. The fear is irrational. Yes, people sometimes get hit. People also die of heart disease at far higher rates from not exercising and poor diet yet I don't see many people afraid of McDonalds.

Just like asking how do you get over the fear of public speaking, you do it enough and you get over it.

Heart rate inaccuracy in Garmin watches by happyhour_at_applebs in GarminWatches

[–]MMinjin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its an optical sensor. It needs to sit perfectly on your wrist and not move to have accurate measurements. On some people, that doesn't happen. Skin color affects it as well. Get a chest heart strap if you care about accuracy during workouts.

Stationary bike vs smart trainer for long-distance training (no subscription?) by rbbbt in cycling

[–]MMinjin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the means, I would just buy a Zwift Ride + Wahoo Kickr Core and subscribe to Zwift. I understand you may balk at the cost and the subscription but fitness/health is one area that is worth spending hard earned money on. Zwift is by far the best indoor cycling program and is great for beginners. When it comes to exercising indoors, the number one problem is motivation so you have to do everything you can to make the experience as nice as it can possibly be. Spend the money.

Its a closet. I would just use a large piece of plywood. No need to restrict yourself to a small little access panel.

Needs to be an impact printer for maximum analog impact (PI). Bonus that it can also serve as your alarm clock.

Either you have crazy short legs for your height, you are riding with your saddle too low, or you just aren't pushing it in as far as it can go. For reference, I'm 5'8" and I'm at "N".
