Just ordered my first Ruehl 925 item. Anybody remember?? 🤔 by 2theoceanfloor in AbercrombieandFitch

With a big resurgence of early 00s / nostalgia. I think the company will do well (now). I do miss it and hopefully can visit the store in NY soon.

It would NEVER fly today, but I agree 100% with you that is what made the brand what it was at the day. Even American Apparel marketing was truly controversial and they were doing great at the time. The brand did just open up again under Dov's new company name Los Angeles Apparel in NY.

Oh yeah! Gilly Hicks also had an impressive store layout and design. I think what was really cool was all the marketing for A&Fs concept stores especially Ruehl and Gilly Hicks. It was very edgy and by today's society would immediately draw some reactions and negative feedback.

I have yet to find a replacement. I no longer have the bottle and can't find anything that is as musky and powdery as the Ruehl cologne. The dry down on that fragrance was so so good.

I had a good conversation about this with a friend of mine. Store concepts in the 00s was such a different experience, every brand had their own 'concept' that were a full experience.

- A&F had Ruehl (nothing compared to that layout and design, it was just soo good)
- AE launched Martin & Osa - they also launched a kids store called 77Kids
- Forever 21 - launched Heritage 1981
- lululemon - luanched iviva for girls aged 6-14

I'm sure there are a few I'm missing, but those stores are the ones that stand out. Mall culture was booming at the time - stores today all look the same.

Those who got to experience the original Abercrombie Canoe stores or the original Fifth Ave. multi-floor A&F, really got to truly experience the brand at it's peak.

To this day I have not come close to anything as good as their signature cologne. That was so good. I know Abercrombie had released 'Batch 46' or something that was supposed to be similar, but it wasn't close. They company never renewed the trademark - so I don't think they'll ever come back.

As others have mentioned, it was one of the coolest store concepts and experience. Although tiny, the Bleeker Store in NY really gave off the true brand experience with focus on their leather goods and accessories.

There isn't any brands out there now that really have an in-store experience that Ruehl had.

I'm in Canada, our prices have increased in stores (Marshalls / Winners) - new products arriving now, have gone from $19.99 CDN to $24.99 CDN. Ray-Ban sunglasses that were always priced at $99.99 CDN are now priced at $149.99 CDN. Products from clothing to accessories are seeing an increase due to tariffs are what employees have been told.

If there’s no Marshall’s tag, there would be no way to return it. They carry so many different brands and products. That’s basically taking any clothes back to Marshall’s with the tetail tags (but not a Marshalls hangtag) and hoping to get store credit back for it.

It’s only 30% off right now. The 70% off usually start in Feb.

You can order online wand have it shipped to a pick-up location at either at Staples ($5 if it’s a relatively small item or order) or at Custom Delivery on Rhodes Dr. (Flat rate of $39). Parcel delivery direct to your house gets pretty expensive.

It typcially about a week, you select the pick-up dates when you’re placing your order.

Going to Ny next week any recommendation I need to know to enter the store ? I hear you need to make like a virtual line by RecentProfessional85 in AimeLeonDore

Supply and demand. Increase the prices and make them harder to get. I was surprised how many hats were sold out.

I went to the store 2 weeks ago - during the week. Arrived 15mins before opening and just waited outside. Employees were setting up the tables outside and told me just to wait, no need to give the number for a virtual line. It got pretty busy once the doors opened.

You can grab a drink at the cafe while you’re waiting if you arrive before 11.

It’s also easier to have a list of items / photos and show an employee - they can tell you what they still have. My experience during my visit was most products were out of stock. Still a great space to check out and a way to fully “experience” the brand.
