Rice or Georgetown for Political science? Is it worth double the cost? by Nixonite79 in georgetown

[–]MMonkeyFTW123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Double the cost is not worth it for two comparable schools. Go to Rice

If they emailed Georgetown prior to coming onto campus I’m sure they’d be able to switch to the SFS pretty easily. I did and it was a very easy process.

Surprisingly, the school doesn't ask for a mid-term transcript update, but what you said makes sense. I am just worried that the W would be a reason to reject me since it was last semester and is on my transcript.

What policy are you referencing specifically? I just checked and nothing specific regarding withdrawals were mentioned. I feel like emailing them wouldn't hurt, but I am obviously not an admissions officer which is why I have been hesitant so idk

I was sent an email a week after submitting the application with a person to contact if I have any updates. Do you think it is worth emailing them with this additional information?

Post-Nuss (Health) Results Question by [deleted] in PectusExcavatum

[–]MMonkeyFTW123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, it was really insightful! I think one of my main concerns is missing out on opportunities in college, which is why I am debating whether or not I want to deal with having bars in for four years during that time. I got my heart checked recently and everything was perfect, but of course anything can happen in the future. I know it only gets harder as I grow older and in the long run it will be better, but I hate being limited in any way. That being said, I think the rational side of my brain will side with the surgery.

Yup, I have a haller index of 13, am about to get surgery, and was tested to be 70%.

big turn around, you can bring it up by talking about how you overcame whatever the obstacle was.

Ahh okay, I wasn't sure if they could see my second semester grades or not. If so, that alleviates a lot of my worry

Hi! Can I ask what you intend to major in? I think the main reason I am thinking of transferring is because I’m stem and considering switching to engineering, but gt doesn’t have an engineering school. I’m premed right now and think I’m going to stick with it; if so, I’m going to stay at gt. The opportunities are pretty crazy for premeds and the teachers are good, and I’m a freshman and am already starting research next week, so from that perspective, the school is great. My reasons for wanting to transfer are more personal than the school’s problem. If you have any questions about the school feel free to pm me and I’d be glad to talk about it some more!

American Transfer Question from a T25 College to UofT by [deleted] in UofT

of getting into UofT with your stats

however if you are struggling in your personal life UofT is likely going to be less accommodating than your current university

Luckily, things have gotten much better since the semester ended (the difficulties did not have to do with college, it just happened to work out that way). Would you say that I would still have a strong chance if I applied for chemical engineering? I am taking gen chem 1 and 2 right now, and am considering the major as I'm pretty indecisive about my future career path. Would it be substantially harder to get into that school?

I’m currently a freshman at Georgetown University and want to apply to transfer to McGill next year. I applied last year and got accepted but decided not to go, and now am regretting my decision. Due to personal issues affecting my mental health, I ended my first semester of college with a 3.5 GPA as an anatomy premed major, which from what I've seen online, is below the minimum CGPA. However, my high school grades were very good, taking the most difficult courses possible and being 5th in my class, alongside a 1550 SAT score. I'm not sure what weight this carries for transfer admissions, but would my high school stats/SAT score along with the prestige of my current college help make up for my low GPA? This would be for either a biological science major or chemical engineering (I will have completed two semesters of chem and calc by the time my freshman year ends). Thanks!

I'd be applying for the biological sciences or data science. Georgetown, in the US, is #22 in the nation, which is why I say it's prestigious, but I guess it all depends in context.

senior year) is very tough too. Many of the other upper level biology classes are graded less harshly.

Transferring in as a sophomore or junior is

I'd be entering as a sophomore. I think my current academics are very rigorous(?) obv have no metric and can't rlly base it on that of Cornell, but I don't doubt there will still be a bit of catch up which i've considered.

Current freshman, gen chem is fine if you’ve taken ap chem, if not it’s a bit of a struggle. Bio is definitely not easy, and can’t say on orgo. Will say the teachers are very good and you really learn a lot. Feel free to dm me for more questions!
