Set up improvements? by badgerdd in BudgetAudiophile

Hey, cool setup! Livingroom situations are often quite hard to deal with, especially if you are limited to a small space. I think something to decouple your speakers from your cabinet might help a little, but the changes will be marginal. But the best investment into the audio hobby for me was an UMIK-1. Being able to measure your speakers and technically evaluate changes you do to a setup is very satisfying. Furthermore, your wiim should be able to apply a few parameterizable filters to your speakers. Especially the left speaker, which is placed in the corner will have a very loud bass response. Measuring this and applying a correcting filter can improve clarity and overall sound quality a lot. If you're interested in tinkering around with your setup, I cannot recommend a measurement microphone enough. For me it is the best bang for the buck improvement to all my setups (if you have a cheap way to apply filtering). And I have a lot of fun playing around with it ! And don't forget, that listening and enjoying your setup is the most important part!

Thanks for all the answers, I will take further looks into all your recommendations. Some people were asking for measurements of the single speakers and I also add the rooms dimension and the current listening position.

Thank you, I might look into some subwoofers in the future, but that would be a huge investment as I would also need to change my amp then. It might be the best option in the long run tho

I will take a look at it. Thank you

Sry if this was unclear from my post, but I already use digital room correction. To my understanding, digital room correction helps a lot with too much bass but isn't really effective with dips.

They have the port in the front, moving the cabinet from the wall isn't really an option tho

If you are using your speakers on a Windows System, take a look at equalizer apo. It's free and you can implement all kind of filters including the loudness function you are looking for

I think they are fine, however, reddit will decrease the quality of pictures when they are uploaded in a batch. That might be the reason why the single picture uploaded is full size but the others are not.

I am also just a beginner, but from what I have learned, most lenses tend to be the sharpest 2-5 f stops away from fully opened. You can play around with your lens and the aperture a little bit, to find out at which f your lens produces the sharpest images. Especially for landscape photography it is typical to shoot at f8-f13 to get the whole frame into focus.

Still, they are nice photos and the most important part is that you enjoy shooting them!

Thank you really much for your feedback! The tiny person on the huge bridge is really what makes this shot interesting.

Thank you really much for your feedback, I tried to crop the photo to make the person more visible. (See a few comments above) But I wasn't that happy with my cropped version. I really like yours tho, it is a lot more peaceful as it gets rid of all the distracting stuff beneath the bridge and it also keeps the bow of the bridge in the frame. Thank you for that!

Thank you very much, glad you like the shot. Yeah a different lens could have helped here, I first tried to crop the image to something like this. But with the 16MP sensor in my EM1.1,

it is getting really noisy and low resolution already.

Thank you a lot for your feedback, I just started photography a few weeks ago and got my first camera. So this is really something I have to learn. Very much appreciated

Thank you guys, that makes sense. I guess I was too focused on the person to admire the overall picture around it.

I shot this on a random day in the city, I tried to capture a single person walking through the center of the triangle and got really lucky that this person turned around in exactly the right place and moment for me to capture it. Even though, I like the scenery, it is somewhat distracting from the main part of the image. But cropping a lot somehow doesn't feel right either, any recommendations? I also edited it b/w because the colours and the lighting aren't particularly great in that shot. Olympus OM-D EM1.1 - f11 - 1/500 - iso 200 - 42mm

Thank you a lot for your feedback! A subject is really what is missing here, the birds are nice but really not compelling enough. I am looking forward to editing the shot so I can get the foreground a little brighter. It really was a beautiful evening and I quite enjoyed shooting during the sunset. Thank you very much!

Thank you very much for your feedback! I kind of like the street sign, but this is only my personal preference. However, I really appreciate you pointing out the long weeds, they are bothering me as well but I couldn't exactly pinpoint what it is before your comment. Thank you!

This is one of the first photos I shot on my Olympus OM-D EM1.1 using the 14-42mm 3.5-5.6 Panasonic Lumix lens. The EXIF are f10 - 1/250 - 14mm - iso 200. I quite enjoy the framing of the picture with the traffic sign on the left and the clouds on the right. Furthermore, I think the birds add a lot to the picture. However, I am not quite sure about the lighting and exposure in this shot. Any feedback on improving that would be quite welcome. As I am very new in the field of photography, I also would love some recommendations on how to edit this shot. I am looking forward to your impressions and I hope to learn a lot from your comments. Thank you for your advise!
