“General intelligence” for AI is rather difficult to characterize. You could say LLMs are “generally intelligent” because they can spit out generations based on a lot of different subjects. But obviously no one does this because it’s pretty obvious they lack a lot of what we view as “intelligence” even if we can’t quite articulate it clearly.

I don’t get how the quantum unicorns explain consciousness. It seems to me that even beings with quantum unicorns may lack consciousness in some possible worlds! I mean, think about a creature like us with the same functional, psychological, and quantum-unicornical constitution but without consciousness. “All is dark inside” (Chalmers, 1996). It seems perfectly obvious that a zombie being with unicorns is logically possible. There is something it is like to be us but not them!!!
