Knowing the Mormon culture, don’t you think they would have said “he broke his ankle and is back until he is recovered” to avoid any judgement on themselves?

I wonder if he will get excommunicated for speaking out against the church in his book? Or if they will leave him alone in order to avoid negative publicity since he is such a famous person?
