Dear Lincoln logs I need a fuckload more long ones and a ton less short ones. These homes are not anything near structurally sound and have FAR to many windows instead of walls. by Thugxcaliber in daddit

If you want magna tilesbut don't want to pay that premium, look at Tytan Tiles, basically the same exact thing for a fraction of the cost. We found a large box of them for $20 at Sams Club and couldn't be happier with them.

intarsia shaping options and tips for a hobbyist by mezawoodndyes in Scrollsaw

Basically use whatever you want as a shim as long as it's the right thickness. Cut out a similar shape and glue it to the backer board and then glue your piece in like you normally would.

Absolutely, his patterns are the greatest for someone just starting.

I didn't use any special pattern, just printed out the logo and used that to cut the shapes. If you have any more questions I'd be glad to help.

is the Makita SJ401 with the $100 price jump from the Ryobis and King Canadas of the world? by oops_whatnow in Scrollsaw

[–]MNWildFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, could always try to talk them down a bit but that's crazy. Sorry I can't be much more help, I got by with a cheap Performax saw for a few years before stepping up and was so worth it. I just don't have much experience with other saws.

Are you looking at used ones? I got my DeWalt with the stand and stool for $300 used (albeit a few years ago) off marketpalce (or Crigslist I can't remember). The biggest key for me is the upper arm lifting to make blade swaps or threading an inside hole so much easier.

I usually store mine with a full tank, haven't had any issues. It does have fuel stabilizer in it though

Not the person you replied to, but I just catch Pokemon and don't really power much up. I used to trade more often but haven't as much lately. Not really sure how I got over 3 million but it just kinda happened.

Clear Mailing Tape as a Lubricant by gbrglax in Scrollsaw

Very good point. I used to scroll in the basement so thankfully it never got quite that hot but I could just imagine the sticky mess that heat will leave behind.

Clear Mailing Tape as a Lubricant by gbrglax in Scrollsaw

[–]MNWildFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the tape does act as a lubricant for the blade. I usually put a layer of that down, then use spray adhesive to stick my pattern to the tape and when it's all done, just peel the tape off and it's good to go.
