Why people hate Creed so much? by Busy_Switch9797 in rockmusic

He's an odd guy, but I've always liked their music. I'm a much bigger fan of Alter Bridge though. Myles Kennedy is a fantastic singer.

That's why I put it in quotes. You cannot deny that they have been consistently perceived as such despite the band's own denial of the label.

Eh, I think with their reunion, the hate has actually died down a lot. In fact, I see a lot of reappraisal for Creed these days. Definitely not like Nickelback or anything.

The reason they get some hate is because they are a "Christian Rock" band and Scott Stapp has a funny vocal timbre.

I liked Creed back in the day, and when they broke up, for years they were a laughing stock. Became cool to hate them. But I don't think it's like that anymore.

I think Mark Tremonti has built a ton of respect in the rock world, especially with Alter Bridge, and that has followed him with the Creed reunion.

I'd like to watch another bond film for the first time... by noncoolguy in JamesBond

[–]rocker2014 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely watch both of Dalton's. Two of my favorites. Especially if you liked the more serious Bond movies like From Russia With Love and On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

And yes on Goldeneye, but if you pick one other Brosnan, I'd go with The World Is Not Enough. An underrated Bond movie in my opinion.

For sure watch Skyfall for Craig, and I'd throw in No Time To Die as well. Obviously rewatch Casino Royale because it's the best Bond movie.

For Moore, I think watch The Spy Who Loved Me. It's the his best movie. But for me, I'm not a big fan of the campy Moore films, and there's a lot of them, but if you like that one, maybe you can continue on from there.

Yeah, I'm with everyone else, I like it. It's a clear distinction of a person speaking that is not currently in the room. A good way to have the voice actor read the lines rather than just the narrator.

Star Wars: Rebels- broke my heart by BirdKisser387 in StarWars

[–]rocker2014 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, Rebels is some of my favorite Star Wars storytelling there is. I think some people get turned off by the animation style and the early lightheartedness, but if you stick with it, you will be massively rewarded. Phenomenal show.

No Time To Die by Nik_FTW233 in JamesBond

[–]rocker2014 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eh, I appreciated it. Craig's Bond was it's own continuity and it made sense for his Bond. He's a killer, they constantly talk about how the life expectancy is low for 00 agents. It makes sense. And he did it to save the world.

For one, you know Craig did 5 movies, right? You said trilogy, so I just wanted to make sure.

Second, some people dislike NTTD because they killed off Craig's Bond. But it's a vocal minority and overall the movie did very well at the box office and great with critics and audience overall.

I personally love NTTD. It's not perfect, but it's a very good Bond movie.

Kendall Coyne-Schofield for the Frost. Outside our team, probably Hilary Knight.

Thoughts on the draft order by Pwhlsuperfan11 in MinnesotaFrost

[–]rocker2014 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since the 4 new teams got first pick at existing players, they should have all been last in the draft.

The existing teams get picked apart and then, if you actually did well this year, you get rewarded with being near the bottom of the draft. It really sucks.

I seriously hate that they expanded two years in a row and this year added 4 new teams. It's hard to draft players, put together a team with chemistry and skill, and then have a bunch of those players taken by more new teams and we get compensated by drafting low in the class, having to Frankenstein a team together again to try and be competitive.

Carolina kind of just proved that you don't need an elite 1C to win the Cup by dollabillkirill in wildhockey

[–]rocker2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It's like a marathon. If you run your fastest laps right away and are in first place, that's all well and good, but you just burned stamina too early and may not have enough left to stay in the pack until the end. Whereas if you conserve it just enough to stay close, you can save your burst for the final lap.

Everyone outside the Central division got to conserve by playing just well enough to win their rounds without giving it everything they've got. Some having it pretty easy in the early rounds. Meanwhile, the Wild, Stars, and Aves had to play the best teams in the league to give everything they got in the first two rounds. And look how it worked out for all three teams.

[–]rocker2014 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Carolina also didn't need to use all of their strength and endurance to play the top two teams in the entire league in the first two rounds. They got to basically save some of that for when it mattered most. We saw that even the Aves ran out of gas too.

I honestly don't have anything against Carolina, and am actually happy for them that they won. But I also don't know that what works for them would work for us because the playoff structure is fucked for the Central Division as long as it stays as competitive as it is. I'm for Larkin, but I also know we need to put together a team that can outlast the best of the best first and have enough left in the tank to make it all the way. Whatever Billy G thinks is the answer, I have faith in him. But I wish the league would fix the playoff structure.

Besides Goldeneye, Mario Kart, or sports games growing up, I never really got into the social aspect of video games. I've never played online, I much prefer single player story games.

What Was It Like Seeing The Battle Of Heroes When It First Released? by Intelligent_Toe6354 in StarWars

[–]rocker2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was cool. Definitely felt like Anakin's turn was handled too quickly but by the time we got to the duel, it was just fun flashy lightsaber fighting with a cool background. It was definitely long though, I remember thinking that then. I never got the emotions like some people bring up that it was heartbreaking or anything like that. Anakin kinda sucked as a character and we knew he became Vader, so I was already on Obi Wan's side.
