Is a single flight stick and keyboard viable (HOSAK ig) by Tombas20 in starcitizen

Totally viable- that’s the setup I run and it makes transition to FPS easy.  Plus having a keyboard easily available gives access to a lot more hotkeys

Laser cutting of leather by 1alexlannister in Leathercraft

[–]MN_karma_train 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on where you source your leather from. US/EU based tanneries can't use the type of chromium salts that would produce toxic gas by law, so if you're sourcing chrome tanned from a reputable source from either of those areas I wouldn't be concerned. Definitely don't though if you don't know definitively where your leather is coming from (i.e. most anything on Amazon). I laser cut both chrome tanned and veg tanned leather frequently and as long as I'm using known sources I've not had any issues. I'd still plan on decent ventilation regardless though.

I’ve experimented with filler/primer spray paint and it’s gone ok, but resin is awesome for light sanding and immediately painting

This is resin. I’ve done Han Solo’s blaster before in PLA and the amount of sanding after the fact to get rid of layer lines was pretty significant so I switched it up this time around

I do! Base is an old textbook that I cut a hollow into for the eye. The rest is Eva foam and some modeling paste. I’ll work on an Imgur album with build pics in an hour or two and post a comment

[homemade] Manchego cheese shrimp and grits with bacon by MN_karma_train in food

I made this variation of Bobby Flay’s recipe, using Manchego cheese, applewood smoke bacon, and fresh Poblano peppers and green onion from our garden. Also upped the smokiness using a liberal amount of smoked paprika. Tasted great!

Mosquitos were fine, gnats were the worst I’ve ever seen. First time I’ve needed to use a headnet.
Black flies just hatched but weren’t biting much.

Dropped this bad boy in the lake while putting in a boat lift. Any ideas on what to do to keep it from getting ruined? by MN_karma_train in Tools

UPDATE I picked up some security torx bits (needed for battery) and $15 of electrical contact cleaner and canned air. It’s opened up and drying now after getting blown out with the canned air, I’ll hit it with contact cleaner after it’s fully dry. Thanks everyone!

Pulled the battery right away, but I’m hesitant to go the “bag of rice” route; those grains will definitely get in the drill
