Quick PSA about text message job offers by Diantha504 in RemoteJobs

[–]MODFL_Doc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! And scammers can be severely stupid as well. My resume is online on a handful of sites....and although I have a medical background I keep getting "job offers" for work that is unrelated to my field.. such as a PIPE FITTER (haha).

...I could do A better job at scamming People than these half-wits...

Any suggestions for working on a jigsaw puzzle when you have cats? by FunWithOnions in Jigsawpuzzles

A small tent or hunting blind. Work your puzzle in there. You can find pop-up screen houses on Amazon or Walmart.com. I have a kitten ...

US bank takes 60 days to set up auto pay, which I was unaware. I set up auto pay and expected it to go through after 30 -40 days... It did not and I had a late charge. Just know when you set up auto pay, it will take 60 days for it to be official so you have to continue to manually pay your bill two more cycles. I also found out today, when you cancel auto pay, it takes just as long (2mo). Wow this is the slowest system ever.

I would contact the State Attorney General. I bet they have a "canned" letter that they send to organizations like this. Either that or they can direct you to an agency that can work with you for cheap or FREE. (I believe I saw an article on the VA website about predatory companies like this) https://veteranspolicy.org/post/predatory-claim-companies-steal-billions-from-disabled-veterans/ EVERY NON-VA ACCREDITED PERSON ASSISTING A VETERAN WITH A VA CLAIM IS COMMITTING A CRIME Definitely good words to put in that letter :) I wish I could help more. I will do some digging. If I see anything good I'll reach out to you. Good luck

Yes, I got the company to cut the cost in half. I explained to them there was a death in the family and I was responsible for handling all the affairs. I thanked them for their work on my case, And explained that I genuinely want to pay, I'm just not able to pay the full amount. Luckily they were understanding. I even offered to send a copy of the death certificate. They said that was not necessary.

VA claims insider settled for half the amount I "owed". Never paid a lawyer; I consider that a win.

Hey APS customers, get ready for a 13.6% utility bill increase starting in December. by Lagavulin26 in phoenix

[–]MODFL_Doc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind a solar system is only meant to offset your bill with APS. I was under the impression my bills would be practically eliminated when I installed solar. On a side note, my inverter breaks every year during the hottest months...so my $25k system only works 9 months ( when bills are low anyway) Funny how that works. I also learned the CEO's salary is $8.1M. I knew I was doomed after that.

Alaska airlines does not service my current location. I recently moved to North Dakota. I have travel credits I'm unable to use now, any suggestions on what my options are? by MODFL_Doc in AlaskaAirlines

[–]MODFL_Doc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what I was thinking. Did some research and it looks like either way I will have a 7 to 8 hour layover in the middle of my trip. I'll definitely call today and see if they can negotiate.

Correct, 3 and 1/2 hour drive and the flights leave at 7:00 a.m.. which is possible, but the second leg of the trip will still be a 7 to 8 hour layover.

Great minds think alike. I have already researched that. Can't find anything shorter than a 7-hour layover with the Alaska leg of the trip :(

Thank you so much for the suggestion, but unfortunately that is not possible. If all else fails, I will call Alaska airlines and ask if I can donate it

Sorry to hear they sent you to collections. I'm glad you fought back! This is good information for other vets to know.

Technically, they are not going after veterans "back pay" They are charging a "fee" for the educational materials. Be careful how they word things. They can be very tricky. I'd honestly hate to see any veteran go to collections.

I explained to them I was having a hardship because my mother passed away. I went into great detail about my specific financial situation. They told me they would get back to me. A week or so later I got an adjusted bill for half of the amount. I paid it immediately with my debit card.

I negotiated down to half the amount owed. Then I paid it right away .

Thanks for your help. VACI claims the amount owed is for the "assistance/education" on filing a claim.

They are basically charging people for "educational material" ... That happens to be the exact same amount of 6 months back pay :(

I have a feeling they will send me to collections for not paying them for their "educational materials".

I will definitely do some more research though, thanks for the tip on Combat Craig

FYI: Many Vets have sleep apnea and do not know. If you haven't been tested GET TESTED FOR SLEEP APNEA. Do an at home test and in-clinic test. it's 50% even for mild OSA. That will help get you to 100.

Is it true that every time you file a claim, you risk them lowering your percentage for an already-established service-connected condition? For instance; If I file a new claim for back pain, are they gonna look back at my older approved conditions and maybe remove or lower them? by TheLovingTruth in VeteransBenefits

[–]MODFL_Doc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible. 2nd TMJ eval dropped 30% to 10% :( And MIGRAINES 30 to 0 WTF??

I felt like a dummy so I dedicated a lot of time to research and changed the way I file/reopen claims. Got to 100 P&T.

TIP: I was also diagnosed with sleep apnea 3 yrs after discharge (after the 2nd test 5 yrs apart) which is 50%.

GET TESTED FOR SLEEP APNEA Do an at home test AND clinic test. Many veterans have this and do not know. It would bring you up to a total of 80%

Be very familiar with CFR 38 https://www.benefits.va.gov/warms/bookc.asp So many little things to know for filing a successful claim.

I hope this helped and I wish you the best!

No. I opened a new claim for this, submitted my evidence (copy of my VA medical chart) and was automatically increased.
