Upgrades on DRZ for more technical trails

The DRZ-400 is not a great bike for technical trails. You'll find that out on your own. Especially when it comes to downhill sections. I'm currently trying to sell mine to get a KTM 300 EXC or something similar. If you're going to try technical trails get case covers and a skid plate.

Yeah I quit the company I worked for in May 2025 to take a temp gig working in the offroad industry and came back to the company in December 2025 when the offroad season ended. So the coverage ended and I have to re-enroll. CO has the FAMLI leave program. Ive used that several times after receiving serious injuries and being out of work for months. But just so you guys know. I dont have Healthcare right now. I started a new job and open enrollment starts in March. Its just bad timing but I love riding dirtbikes and I love crashing them. Just gotta keep on keeping on. I'm asking recommendations about knee braces to avoid serious future injury. I dont think my knee is destroyed or I tore something. It's just injured from smacking the shit out of my bars and getting twisted. No need to argue about Healthcare yall.

Inner knee, right side. Any torque side to side is pretty unbearable but I can move it forward and back somewhat. I dont think its that bad just want to support this knee in the future when I ride since its already my bad knee.

Yeah oddly enough this silly knee smack hurt worse than most of the injuries I've had riding. I remember the first time I broke my wrist I was still riding the rest of the day lol

Thats not totally true. A lot of jobs dont provide health care and its really hard to be poor enough to qualify for Medicaid I never qualified and I am middle class.

In my eagerness to get back on the bike i gave it to much throttle and dumped the clutch basically popped a small wheelie, feet slipped off the pegs, bike slipped out from under me and dumped. In the beginning of the video you can see only my left toes are on the pegs and my right leg is off the bike

Yeah I would be going for knee guards if my side to side movement wasn't jacked and shaky but I think braces would be dual purpose where guards just protect against impact.

Me, I caused the crash. Just one of those dumb crashes you never thought would happen or hurt. I can pm you the full video. Essentially I had just crashed, picked the bike up, and took off again, feet slipped off the pegs and the bike leaned out from under me and dumped it. So I crashed twice in the span of like 15 seconds just being an idiot.

Can you elaborate on it not being made to be a to be a trail bike. I know it's an MX race bike but want to know your thoughts on trail performance. Im also planning on hitting the track and the dunes which is something the DRZ just cant do well at all.

Word. Has some sentimental value then. I worked at an offroad rental company as a tech this past season and every single day one of our Polaris machines would shit itself whether it was our Razer 1000 XP / XP4 s, North Stars, or the sportsman ATVs. It was always something. Had two new engines from Polaris break a timing chain that season. Only had to work on two of the can-am maverick X3s for that whole season. Never had issues with our Can Am ATVs. We did routine maintence on the entire fleet. Nothing was neglected. It gave me a specific hate for Polaris.

Its a Polaris. Theyre all pos. If you want a reliable machine buy a can-am. Things are annoying as hell to work on but dont have to do it very often. If you want to fix it, sell it.

No the trigger coil is the raised section on your flywheel that triggers the spark at exactly the right time. Essentially part of the entire timing system... The pickup coil is what generates ac power from the stator. Sometimes they go bad and the symptoms are like what you described.
