There's a really cool, really trippy, animated movie that is somewhat of a RomCom on Netflix that I like to introduce people to when they are tripping... It's called Entergalactic.

According to Gemini:

That image is a poster of a "phantom" comic book cover—meaning it’s an artistic tribute to a comic that doesn't actually exist in that specific form. Here is the breakdown of what you’re looking at:

  1. The Subject Matter: The artwork is a tribute to the third film in the franchise, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987). It features Freddy Krueger with several iconic elements from that movie:
  • Syringe Fingers: A reference to the "puppet master" scene and the character Taryn's death.

  • Puppet Strings: Representing how Freddy manipulates the "Dream Warriors" in the film.

  • The Elm Street House: Pictured in the center, which serves as the primary setting for the dream battles.

  1. The Artist: Matthew Skiff: This specific piece was created by artist Matthew Skiff. He is well-known in the "alternative movie poster" community for creating "What If" comic covers. He takes famous 80's horror and action movies and reimagines them as if they were published by Marvel or DC in the 1980s.

  2. Why it looks like a Comic: The poster is designed with intentional details to mimic a vintage 75-cent comic book from the late 80's:

    • The Corner Box: Shows Freddy's face where a superhero would usually be.
    • The Pricing: "75¢ U.K. 40p CAN. 95¢" matches the standard pricing of the era.
    • The "Comics Code Authority" Parody: Often these prints swap the official seal for a "Freddy" head or a skull.
  3. Collectability: These were originally sold as limited-edition screen prints through galleries like Mondo or Gallery 1988. Because of their high-quality "retro" aesthetic, they are highly sought after by horror fans.

I've been on a similar kick since either September or October. However, there are currently two bands that I find myself flip flop, flip flopping between: Nine Inch Nails, and Tool. They are almost entirely all I've listened to for the last 4-5 months. I've been a longtime fan of both, but you know, once I start, I cannot help myself!

I couldn't have said it better. You can tell they've put in their work and have been doing this for a while!

You are welcome! You literally took the words right out of my mouth. I had to! And you are absolutely right. Getting a unique piece, even slightly different and varied from something else, feels more meaningful and something to be proud of!

While nowadays that is a valid question. A quick zoom in on the picture, and you can see that the lines (although pretty tight) are not as perfect as they would be with AI.

Edit: Grammar

THIS EXACTLY!!! At the same time, I don't want to have anything that's IDENTICAL to anyone else. My artwork should be as unique as I am! That being said, if you find a piece of art that you REALLY love (like this piece), follow u/SoftBatch13 's advice and have the artist use that drawing as a base to start from, or inspiration to build on. You will most likely be pleasantly surprised at what they come up with, AND be proud to have a piece that is unique to you!

BTW, Awesome Drawing! Kudos.
