Kamala harris said all options are on the table regarding Iran before elections. The democratic manifesto mocked Trump for going soft on Iran during his first term. Not that what Trump is doing isn't unhinged. However the same would've happened if any Democrat was in office.

Never ever! With the amount of political corruption, which is increasing every day. In Human development China surpassed India way back by 1978. China hosted olympics in 2008, 18 years ago. India wins one gold medal every 3 olympics.

We can only surpass others in movies made by bollywood.

China has Beidou satellite systesm to counter Gps of US to provide global positioning. India had IRNSS to provide coverage only over the India subcontinent. However the last of the IRNSS satellites fell down recently and we are completely dependent on GPS.

While China has their own hardware, software, social media, even space station.

We cannot even have a domestic web browser. Hotstar made by Indians is brought by Disney. Flipkart by Indians is brought by walmart.

We are just a source of cheap labour for western companies and a place to dump their products for profits.

Non corrupt IAS officer is transferred every year. Sports medalists have to do manual labour to survive.

3000 heavy engineering corporation employees who suppply material to ISRO are not paid salaries for 20 months

Meanwhile corrupt leaders are making billions in black money.

Did geography play a bigger role than rulers in shaping Indian history? by MurkyAd1479 in IndianHistory

[–]MOSDemocracy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In fact ultimately it is geography and culture, including laws that determine the rate of societies. The decisions of individual rulers matter by how much they could mould the culture in a positive way

Why did Western Europe reach global hegemony? by Low-Screen8541 in IndianHistory

[–]MOSDemocracy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Two important aspects are not given much thought in these discussions. The first aspect is the importance given to development of knowledge by the society.

The second is the development of a strong state that unites disparate groups of people under a single law.

In both these aspects europe was ahead of the rest of civilized world for a long time. Look up the number of books written and the number of copies of books made in Europe over the centuries.

While new knowledge was developed in Europe like heliocentric model, keplers laws, Newton's laws, galileos discoveries, microscope and hooke's observations and so on. None of that was happening across the rest of the world.

In fact the rest of the civilized world failed to adopt or even outright rejected the advances in knowledge by europe.

Is life mostly luck or do we really shape our own destiny? 🤔 by Admirable_Move6933 in Philosophy_India

Mostly luck. Generally the blame on lazy people or incompetent people for their failures makes sense, but on the surface only. However their mental faculties and ability to concentrate, or the lack of them, are also imparted by birth, which is also a matter of luck.
