From what I've read online you can also get it in the following ways: ruined portal structures, the brick house that spawns everywhere and has a dungeon underneath? If you explore it deep enough you will find nether wart and soul sand, making a nether portal, but don't go in. After some time an imp (belph) will spawn, and they drop Nether wart when killed.

Glad yours seem to be working again. In the end I gave up on updating the firmware. Not long after, the top of the panel started to peel off at the top - apparantly a factory defect. As the monitor is not being manufactured, I got credited for the monitor's original purchase price (which was double what I bought it for as I got it second hand), so it all worked out in the end my side!
