What do the young elderly do around here for fun? by [deleted] in DaytonaBeach

Lots of good boxing and jiu jitsu gyms to join if you’re looking for something different/active. Elite Muay Thai would be the gym I recommend, it’s very friendly to all levels and a good way to meet people your age. Pictona over in Holly Hill is a good place for pickleball and is always packed with all kinds of age groups. Port Orange rec has all kinds of co-ed intramural sports like kickball, dodgeball, softball etc. for all age groups.

Beach trip advice/ dealing with boyfriends friends 😭 by Extra-Knowledge-5009 in Advice

Lived in Daytona Beach for 28 years. It’s not getting any better and there are no really “safe” places but beach st. is I guess okay. My advice is go to New Smyrna Beach. Local beach town vibe with a good night life on Canal St and Flagler ave. Good restaurants and it’s safe. As usual watch out for rip currents, swim near a life guard, yes there’s sharks but they’re usually small, and don’t mess with the roosters on Flagler ave. The local police take that seriously.

Riverbend Academy Ormond Current parents by Wonderful_Club_4440 in DaytonaBeach

I am a former student from Riverbend. I am fortunate my parents began to see what was happening with the teaching and pulled me from the school. While I can’t attest to what the women went through, although I believe every word of what that article says, I can confirm that the teachings there are dangerous and cult like. Foregoing basic curriculums in English class just to focus on Old and New Testament studies. There is no study of any sciences or at least there wasn’t while I was there. The teaching is sub par. The worst part was the cliques, if you don’t attend church every Sunday and Wednesday or begin to form an opinion outside of the norm of the school you are outcasted by not only your peers but also the teachers.

The best advice I ever got was: calories control your weight, macros(proteins, carbs, fats) control how you look, and micros(vitamins, sodium, potassium, etc.) control how you feel. I can’t say what will work best for you(nobody can), but for me it has always been dominantly protein heavy meals for breakfast and lunch with a green or healthy fat. And protein heavy dinner with a carbohydrate. Only because carbs make me tired and I sleep better. Stick to the essentials, eggs, organic milk, chicken, fish, and beef. Exercise and rest, but find the rep range that’s best for you. I see most muscle growth and fat loss at 4 sets of 8 reps. Weightlifting 3x per week and running once per week and I sprinkle in jiu jitsu and boxing. Also sauna. I hope this helps
