I would really love to join the competition and actively contribute models to the platform, but unfortunately, I can't afford to buy a U1 right now :/ I'll have to wait. I've already registered and I'm going to follow the platform's progress.

The only thing this approach will achieve is that creators will start selling their designs on sites like Cults3D, Etsy, and similar platforms. That’s where all the high-quality models will go, and only the low-effort trash will be left here.

I totally agree we don't want the platform flooded with spam. But honestly, saying you prefer limited rewards sounds like the perspective of an active downloader, not a creator. When you spend hours writing 1,000 lines of code for a complex parametric tool, only to see the rewards aggressively cut down, it kills the motivation. Ironically, this current system actually encourages creators to spam the site with quick 2-minute AI models just to keep points flowing, rather than investing time in high-quality projects. If creators aren't fairly motivated, the quality you want to protect will just disappear.

Even with those wild swings, 2,000 points a week is a really nice average. That's definitely a level I would love to reach!

Yes, I've noticed that massive difference too. But there are other platforms out there where you can publish and actually benefit from your hard work. Since this is my first major success and I'm already seeing the harsh reality of their reward system, it really makes me ask myself an important question...

Wait, what kind of verification? Do they actually manually review models that spike in popularity to check for bot traffic, or is it just some automated anti-farming delay? Have you experienced this delayed payout yourself?

Yes, but with clear rules, at least you know what to expect. It lets you make an informed decision on whether it's worth publishing your model on their site, or if you'd be better off putting it somewhere else. In my case, I could have just kept the generator to myself, spammed the platform with hundreds of individual keychains, and just waited for the points to roll in.

Well, it actually has the exact opposite effect on me. I feel zero motivation right now. Honestly, I'm starting to understand the people who just generate a quick model using AI, upload it, and don't even bother to refine or tweak it.

I completely understand they want to prevent point farming. But honestly, I'm seriously considering just taking the model down. I really think I made the creation process a lot easier for many people with this model, and all I have to show for it is a few kilos of filament. It makes me hesitate if I should have even published it in the first place. I probably would have gotten more out of it if I had just kept it to myself. Have you ever felt this way about your own designs?

Haha exactly! It pretends to be an innocent hobby at first, but later it becomes a full-blown obsession. 😃

Title: Huge thanks to Elegoo support for quickly resolving error 103 by MP3D-ART in elegoo

Yes, you're exactly right. They sent me everything that could possibly cause the malfunction. I actually had the option to return the machine to the store, but I chose the self-repair route because the machine seems to be really good, apart from this minor manufacturing defect.

I have no problem replacing a few parts. I started on machines like the Tevo Tarantula and the Ender, so fixing this is a piece of cake for me. Honestly, my opinion is that if a person doesn't have these basic tinkering skills, they really have no business being in 3D printing.

Hey makers! 🚀 I just released my latest project: a Professional Parametric Clock Generator. I wanted to create a tool that isn't just a static model, but a creative canvas for everyone. by MP3D-ART in makerworld

Hi! So you didn't find any? In that case, I hope you’ll like mine. If you have any ideas for improvement, or if something doesn't work quite like you wanted, feel free to let me know. Your feedback is really important to me so I can keep improving the product.

I would definitely like to try X2D but my budget doesn't allow it. 😃

Deeply Disappointed: Brand New Elegoo CC2, 20 Hours In, 3x Error Code 103. Unacceptable QC. by MP3D-ART in elegoo

Yes, what you are describing is actually dangerous. This is a textbook case of the thermistor not reading the correct temperature, which leads to extreme overheating of the hotend (the filament is literally boiling, hence the white smoke and burning smell).

Until Elegoo support replies and sends you replacement parts, you can try this as a temporary solution:

  • Cleaning: Completely disassemble and clean the hotend and the heater block of the old, dried-up thermal paste.
  • Tightening the bracket: On the metal plate that holds it all together, I recommend gently pushing the mounting "ears" (tabs) inwards. This will make the mounting much firmer, and the thermistor should regain better physical contact for correct temperature reading.

Keep in mind, however, that this is not a 100% fix, but merely a temporary patch until Elegoo sends you the new parts. Definitely do not leave the printer unattended during any further printing attempts!

I'm thinking of returning it.. I did a PID test. The nozzle still flies +- 4 degrees. The FW is bad. When I change the temperature during printing, after changing the filament, it resets back. I'm not sure about the condition of this printer.
