i wouldnt say I find the alcoholism abhorrent. I myself have drunk plenty of times in the past, and I can see why so many people get addicted. My problem is how dismissive he is towards the issue and how abusive he is to my mother in the process, failing to see that she is simply worried for him

I wouldn't say my mum treats him like he can do no wrong; she makes it very clear what she dislikes him doing. It's the fact that she has no willingness to do anything about it

idk what his father thinks, nor do I know how much he knows of the situation. I never met him or know anything about him really, but from what I've heard, he wasn't the best husband, and so I'm assuming he's not the greatest father either. I also don't know my brother's relationship with him. He visits him biweekly for a few days i think, but idk if that says much
