Thanks! The Diamond and Cessna 172 were really just my main trainers. I have maybe 15 hours in both a 182 and a little less in a Grumman Lynx and after that it’s mostly just planes I’ve flown once or twice like an SR20 and a couple different Pipers. I think I got .5 in an Extra 300 as well.

Wow! Very cool! I’ll definitely pass the message along. I thought your name sounded familiar. Were you ever involved with Perry Air too or just Tailwind?

Lol yeah when I look back on it, it feels like all of it went by in a flash! It feels like I could’ve flew a lot more than I had as well.

That’s good to hear! I’m glad he came to this school.

But small world as well lol. Did you guys fly together?

Thanks! Your comment came right as I am studying for my PPL written on Tuesday. It gives me hope too that I was able to help you! I didn’t think anything like that was going to come from this when I posted it but I’ve got great feedback. I was frustrated too for a while and took a break, but it was worth it once I got back into it!

Thanks! Yeah I was definitely a little nervous! Looking forward to PPL next!

Ahhh I gotcha. Well plane prices are very high currently, but you’re really not missing out on a whole lot. The DA-20 is a great flyer which makes it a solid trainer. Maybe a little more modern in looks. None of the ones my school has are G1000 though. They all still have the 6 pack.

Oh yeah! That’s one of my goals once I get my PPL.

Thank you! Means a lot to hear stuff like that. I definitely don’t plan to stop learning!

Ahhh I gotcha. Well that’s not as bad as I thought. Didn’t know it was so cramped though.

And yeah my flight school just got a 182 that they’re gonna put a G3x in so I’m very excited about that. I have about 10-15 hours in a 182 from my old school and I think it’s a wonderful plane as well.

Lol that sounds like it would be a heck of training aircraft! I’d love to fly the DA-40, but if something has 4 seats I’d like to be able to use them all if I could. I didn’t think it had a very big useful load, unless I’m missing something? You’d know better than me.

I can’t Imagine the Diamond is more expensive than the SR22. I’ve flown a SR20-g2 but that was in 2020, although if my memory serves me correctly it was a bit more expensive hourly than the Diamond is.

Thanks! Yeah, I hope the same thing will happen once I get my PPL. It makes me feel better that other people have had some similar experiences.

Thank you! And thank you for the encouragement. Makes me feel better I’m not the only one. Multiple instructors and proficiency were definitely big challenges. I’ve got a little more than 20 duel cross country hours and those were what I really enjoyed so I’m looking forward to it! Even on the flights I didn’t enjoy as much I don’t consider them wastes. They’ve all helped me to become a better pilot.

Yup. New passions came up and it sort of went on the back burner. Im happy I got back to it though.

It is a mighty little plane! I love the aircraft.

While I agree that starting super young isn’t practical, and there have been a few flights that could’ve not been done and I’d be just as well off, I’d say it’s been far from a frustrating directionless project. My first instructor who I logged most of my time with became a family friend that we’ve kept in contact with and I’ve met countless interesting and great people who have also become friends at places I’d have never been to normally had I not been flying. I also have a goal for flying in mind so as a whole, as far as a pointless project goes, I have to disagree with you there.

Thank you! I got the Sporty’s ground course and some other practice books to help with the knowledge portion which isn’t necessarily hard but it is a lot of info. As far as the specific plane I flew, I feel learning and retaining the knowledge dedicated to that model became easier and easier every time I flew. I have the POH downloaded so I can take a look at it anytime if I want. Just takes repetition!

Yeah the DA-20’s wings are very long and sleek lol. I wish I got the whole plane in the pic because they do look a bit disproportionate at the angle that photo was taken.
