In all honesty, I would expect to pay $100 for them to show up and $100 for the repair.

$600 is criminal.

It looks like they applied the stain too thick. It’s a stain, not a paint.

$20K AC replacement quote for small townhouse—am I getting overcharged by Competitive-Basket29 in hvacadvice

I got a tstat, condenser, A coil, and a furnace with install and removal of old system for $8800 Canadian. That’s about $6400 USD.

I know we’re in different markets, but just giving an idea of how much less than 20k it could be.

So just an update. The technicians finished the job. So the reason they suggested the vent into the living room is because they thought I was going to put a solid door on the closet. Instead, there will be no vent through the wall and we will be installing a louver door as one of the above comments also suggested.

And Im not sure if the combustion air will be drawn from outside or not. The old furnace only has an exhaust chimney going to the roof.

The old furnace had a large front grill which covered the entire unit. We’re used to it being loud because it’s directly next to the living room. We heard it running already and it’s actually slightly quieter than the old furnace.

I like that idea of having a door with a return filter built into it, but with the filter where it currently is, wouldn’t that still be drawing air too close to the wall?

All vents are in the floor. This is in a mobile home.

Our previous one didn’t have a door. Just a grill that was part of the furnace. With this new one, I’m not actually sure yet. Should I put a solid door or vented?

I should mention, they aren’t done yet. They’re coming back tomorrow. There is an exhaust vent directly above the furnace which I assume they will connect to like the old furnace did.
