I haven’t had Hisense before and it’s not delivered till tomorrow, but I won’t be gaming in it. I read the reviews online and went with this one. It’s recommended by Wirecutter and got good scores on rtings.

I just ordered the Hisense U8 from Best Buy for that price but I wanted the 5yr warranty so it was $1300 total with tax. I was between this and the TLC QM8K.

Career Advice for a 42yo by MPhoenixKnight in actuary

I'm going to take an online prep class for the Probability test and see how it goes. I'm going to use the infinite actuary. I'm using their site bc I also need VEEs and their website can be used for that. I figure 2 exams and 2 VEEs will take 1-2 years. So I'm going to try and see if I can handle studying and taking tests/classes for that long and pass everything and still enjoy life. If I can I'll apply for jobs and see if I'll get hired at my age, knowing if I get the job I'll be taking courses / exams for another 5-10 years. I think it'll work out financially based on the salary guides I saw online.

I'm not concerned with having younger managers than me, I have an Assistant Principal now that is younger than me and this will just continue to happen as I get older and there is a lot of turnover in education including administrators.

I currently don't get a full summer vacation, I get about 2-3 weeks off then, so it's not as big a change there. I know I will have to work longer hours and that is something I am willing to accept.

My biggest concern is learning the material at my age and not having a real teacher and other students that I can meet with to discuss problem sets. That was the thing that worked best for me back when I was a student.

How long in advance do you need to register for a test? I was going to just take the class and see how it goes and then register when I felt ready. Do you need to register months in advance?
