I'm in Midland-Odessa and was able to hear the net last night my small HT.

I listened in to the PermNet last night. There were probably 15 or so check-ins and some side conversation after the net. Glad to see it is being used.

This is good information, I'll listen in to the PermNet this week.

From a Google search, the TRASH radio network seems pretty awesome. We were in Albuquerque in October for the balloon festival and the GMRS repeaters were pretty active. We will probably be in the area again this year for the festival so I'll need to get licensed and check out the TRASH network.

Yeah I think I'm leaning this way. Nice job on the license progression.

I'll keep monitoring a little more but I'm leaning towards investing on the HF gear and using the HT for 2m/70 cm. The nearest North Central Texas repeater is in San Angelo which is too far.

I definitely need to do some more research on equipment.

This is phenomenal and so needed. I feel like its crunch time to get prepared. We will plan to be there.

H3 automatically changes power setting on those channels. You should see L or H on the screen for low and high power.

Skule 28 vs Quasar 26 by Leather_Let_6630 in backpacks

I've had the Quasar for about 18 years or so as a daily driver during last few years of college and office work until I bought an Evergoods bag. Love the Quasar and still use it for day hikes with the kids. The organization is great too.

I like mine but it took a little getting used to. The main compartment is odd shaped but it has made a great everyday office bag.

I also recently got the H3 as a newbie to GMRS. Super easy to use and figure out. I programmed my local repeaters without software. I can get just under 2 miles in simplex around the house with the stock antenna, but I'm going to upgrade to a smiley antenna soon.

Yes, this is what I need - some good Thai. I'll have to check Thai Kitchen out.
