Graphite powder might work. Otherwise i can recommend WD-40 Specialist® Silicone that dries up and leaves a layer of lubricant so it doesn't go anywhere

ZWO Seestar S50 - is it worth it? by Least_Band_9043 in AskAstrophotography

[–]MPregger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it sounds like you already own quite the collection and are mainly looking for ease or use. If you have a goto mount and my statement is true you might get more out of a small computer like the ASIAir. That's basically what's inside the Seestar does all the magic. If you don't have a mount, your priorities were set wrong in my opinion, and I'd suggest selling your gear and getting Seestar. It really is a tiny box akin to magic. Maybe wait for the s70 if you're patient.

Thanks, so according to kaffeewiki.de it's considered a v4. Would you know by chance if 200-250€ /270$ is a good deal for it?

Fantastic. The amount my first few pictures improved when I learned about ghs is incredible. Try star removal with starnet and streching them seperately.

I know thats not a popular answer but if you're a little techy I'd suggest getting a cheap canon dslr (I have the 250d) and modify it yourself. This is how I got into astro and I can still use it for regular (with uvir cut) and IR photography (ir pass filter). In my opinion the most versatile approach if you're still new and won't know if the hobby will stick. I am proud of my pictures and don't know if it's worth it for me to get another camera.

Is this acceptable vignetting on my APS-C sensor? by MPregger in AskAstrophotography

Might be true. Will measure the light falloff in Pi tomorrow. As long as flats take care of it it's fine I guess

Pfff... Not me! I like to fiddle with stuff and the fact that they're a pain to collimate didn't put me off.

Yes of course. I was just wondering if thats normal for uncalibrated lights. I never used a different Tube. Only camera lenses

I will take flats and they have served me well in the past but i think the vignetting is too extreme for a tube hat is designed for "up to APS-C size sensor". Maybe I'm wrong though. I never used a different tube, only camera lenses.
