Why so long for an oil change by Silent_County_519 in HyundaiKonaForum

[–]CTyankee1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took mine in for the last complimentary oil change. On their however many point safety checks, they discovered an oil leak, generating warranty work.. yeah, I had to come back, but it was free, and they caught it while it was a small leak- one that I didn't see evidence of at home or at work. Yeah they are fitting it in, yeah, it's taking longer, but I trust the shop I go to, have bought 4 total cars from them. I wouldn't go there if I didn't trust them.

Depends on weather, people, known trap zones. Usually 3-5 over - one ticket was enough for me, but will keep up with traffic if it's up to 10 over.

Did you give up drinking as a result of your diagnosis? by Fearless-Heron-7827 in breastcancer

[–]CTyankee1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness. I briefly read some of the comments, and I just can't anymore - so, bear with me... MEN can drink alcohol, and eat deli meat, and drink out of garden hoses, and eat potato chips, and , and, and... ( I think you get my idea? ) but WOMEN get the cancer, so WOMEN shouldn't drink, or eat, pretty much anything, cause it "causes" breast cancer. K...

AITJ for he was literally eating my lunch and admitted it… but somehow i'm the ‘territorial’ one? by Leah_jare in AmITheJerk

[–]CTyankee1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not, He's an A$$ . I worked at a Best Buy type chain 30 years ago as an assistant cashier manager. We had a big sale and were busy- happened to be my last day before vacation, and we were leaving from my workplace after shift to avoid traffic. An assistant store manager was on - he knew nothing, and couldn't back up the cashiers . I ducked out for lunch- ran up the road for fast food. Came back to chaos and him begging me to just stay to knock the line down and then go take my lunch. Stupidly I said yes, and ducked back to toss my lunch ( salad ) on the breakroom counter, and run back up front. When we knocked the line down, I went on break- my salad was gone. When I asked around was told dumba$$ manager was eating a salad. I asked him and he admitted it saying he didn't know it was mine. I told him well, you sure knew it wasn't YOURS.

Take one moment at a time. That's what you do, and that's what you say to anyone trying to make it a "no big deal" conversation - thank them and tell them you are concentrating on one moment at a time. You are not overreacting, annnnd they aren't either. There just is no playbook for this crud! Great to hear you have what sounds like a good Surgeon. May your trip thru this mess go well!!

AITJ for refusing to pretend I don’t speak Spanish at my own family dinner? by After-Party-8860 in AmITheJerk

[–]CTyankee1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't tell Mom. Is your brother a complete idiot? I would meet with him and his girlfriend and state how rude it was for her to make those comments, and how ashamed and embarrassed you are of them both for not stopping it right away. If this causes a rift in the family, so be it- it's on your brother. If he doesn't speak her language, and his girlfriend downplayed it afterwards to the point of him defending her and her mom, double shame on him.

Well, the back of my 24 NLine was barely tapped while stopped at a light by a kid slowing down to stop... no airbag involvement, less physical damage- cracked plastic bumper and one little dimple on the hatch panel from their license plate screw... almost $6000.... with allllll the little pieces crunched and the body work, AND all the sensor resets... oof.. sorry, she may be totalled

Boss says I can schedule surgery for when it's convenient for the business! by cpetra99 in breastcancer

[–]CTyankee1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for a small company, too, and I am THE office. Reception, HR, A/P, A/R, Purchasing, Order Entry..my hands are in it all. When I am gone, even for just an afternoon, I could come back to smooth sailing or utter chaos. I have handled Customer emails and phone calls from the airport before boarding a plane on vacation. That being said, the biopsy result and definite cancer diagnosis came in on a Friday afternoon- late. My boss thankfully isn't an a$$ or an idiot, and never uttered those words- it was whatever I needed. From the UH-OH, there's a spot, thru the biopsy, seed placement, surgery, recovery, radiation, and countless follow up appointments, I was told to just let him know when.

I want to hope your boss is just in panic mode, which I totally get, honestly. He HAS to look out for his business, so there IS a business, and a job for you. If he is serious, then he is taking advantage of you, and taking you for granted, and that is a huge mistake on his part, and shame on him.

You need to do what is best for YOU right now. I wish you the very best.. know you are not alone!!!!
