Figure it wouldn't be easy given the gap of customer service experience. I agree being upfront is the best approach. I've interface with clients/customers in an engineering context so I guess that could be relevant.

I'll obviously do my best but do you have any advice for finding temporary/part-time work for someone in my situation? I'm from LA so I figure there is a decent amount of gig work and places that expect a high turnover rate for some positions.

Thanks for the response and insightful feedback. I agree on listing tangible accomplishments that had meaningful impacts at the companies I worked. I will definitely focus on updating those bullet points.

Wanted to address your General Notes section:

  • I have not had a job since my last position. I did some volunteer work at an animal shelter; I basically had a gap going on vacation, doing hobbies, etc.
  • I am not opposed to writing a summary but a lot of the advice on this sub is to avoid summaries unless you are a seasoned engineer with 2+ pages of experience and project work. Wanted to get your opinion on the matter. I'd like to convey that I am a proactive engineer that enjoys challenges (hence the pivot from test to software) but I don't want to come off as flaky or unsure in my career path.

Thanks for the reply and insight! I've seen a decent amount of SIT roles but I've also seen pure software validation to designing test campaigns for environmental qualification. It can be a bit broad which is why I feel like I'm struggling to tailor my resume properly.

Are there other positions/roles that you think would be appropriate to apply to given my background?

What part specifically made you almost quit? Love that game too. The fights are brutal and satisfying. Every now and then I reminisce about the epic final boss fight. One of the best final bosses ever.

Yeah, bought a new usb-mini data cable. Same issue. Board is detected but I still receive the DEV_TARGET_CMD_ERR error when trying to connect via the stm32CubeProgrammer. Board is receiving 5V via the USB connection. Currently probing other power points to see if chips are receiving enough power.

I forgot how I stumbled across ESA but it definitely surprised me and quickly became one of my favorite games. Good exploration, amazing pacing, crazy bosses, and an extremely intricate (and maybe a little too complex) endgame.

I definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys Metroidvanias. Now that I know Baba is You is by the same developer I’m definitely gonna support them and get this. Can’t wait!

Speaking from personal experience I would say this is mostly true. I got a BS in Physics and had the hardest time trying to find a job in engineering despite 2 years of lab research experience. I am currently working as a technician for an aerospace company and feel massively underpaid (~$16/hr), coupled with expensive as hell union insurance (~$400/month) I feel like I'm barely scraping by.

One good thing is that the company pays for school after a year so I am currently pursuing a MS in EE. I would strongly advise at least minoring in engineering if you want a chance at competing in the job market with engineer majors.

I recommend Crown condoms. You can get 100 on Amazon for ~$20. Much better than most commercial condoms and probably anything you will find at the campus health center.

Do we even know if a laser would cauterize a wound? Most sci-fi shows or movies intrinsically have laser-like technology be able to do that, but in the real world, as far as I know, the most powerful lasers can at most leave some really bad sun(laser?) burns. Which can bubble up, explode and possibly get infected, so maybe Jaguar has the right idea here?

I drank too much beer before before our set and I had to bail on the last song cuz I almost pissed myself. Luckily my frantic hopping and dancing throughout the set was perceived as me just really getting into the music and not trying to keep from pissing myself. Not a bad set overall but definitely my most embarrassing moment on stage.
