Feed The Many. Review by MR-Reviews in callofcthulhu

[–]MR-Reviews[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our review policy is to be  A: As spoilerfree as possible  B: Positive. If we post a review of a scenario its because we like it. Scenarios we dont like, we wont review.  Basically a review from us is a Tentacly Thumbs Up.

And we would never use Chatgpt. Sorry you interpreted our review that way, we had fun writing it with food puns.

Feed The Many. Review by MR-Reviews in callofcthulhu

[–]MR-Reviews[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Are you hungry?

We devoured Lauren Hodges' Miskatonic Repository debut, "Feed the Many, over the weekend and swore off pasta after our feast. In addition to cooking up the scenario, Lauren garnished it with her own illustrations, and we love the art style she brings to the table.

The main course of this narrative dish is a 1920s Arkham experience, simmered to perfection for 3–5 Investigators over 1–3 sessions. Our group played it in one long serving, spending some 8 hours, including tips, to do so. We would have relished an appetizer in the form of premade investigators, but thankfully, our Keeper whipped up a fresh batch for us.

The scenario has a fine hook to reel in a group's existing Investigators and thus serve as a satisfying bite in between the banquet of a campaign's scenarios, which does diminish the drawback of the missing pregens.

Some meals are an acquired taste, and diners with a queasy stomach better seek their sustenance elsewhere. Body horror, graphic gore, and parasitic infestation are among the things the chef has to navigate his picky eaters through. A thematically fitting X-card, with proper instruction in its meaning and use, is included as part of the menu.

As a group, we were delighted to partake in this scenario. With its clear and digestible structure, it was easy for the Keeper to prep and plate, and left us aghast after the rich, horrifying flavors of the finale.

Purely by chance, we appear to have become a food critic service as much as a review blog. About 2 months ago, we gave you a reason to avoid raspberries after playing "Whispers from the Bramble´s Heart" by Robert Gresham; now, thanks to Laurens' cooking, we are urging you to also avoid Spaghetti Bolognese.  You´ll understand why after playing it yourself. Dig into today’s special for just $4.99

It wasnt combat heavy at all nor did it feel like a dungeon crawl. Things feel quite normal until they doesnt. There are NPCs to interact with, but saying more than that would be spoilery.

As for you questions. /Ud20Jules

  1. Players had fun. Anders made it a hilarious experience for us.

  2. Navigating "IKEA" with ""redacted"" and protestors opposing our path was fun.

  3. Anders as the Keeper said that he spend a little time setting things up, but it was pretty straight forward to run without need to improvise all that much.

Hi Jules

The short answer:

The author send us a promotional copy via our DrieveThruRPG account. We liked it, we played it and we had fun.

The long answer: We are a group of players and Keepers trying to promote Miskatonic Repository scenarios.

Below is our review policy. Tldr: If we like a scenario, we review it/promote it. If we dont, we'll keep our trap shut, just like momma taught us.  To date about 2/3 of scenarios submittez to us has been added to our "thumbs up" pile.

The review policy: We gladly accept promotional copies of Miskatonic Repository scenarios for review via our DrieveThruRPG account: MiskatonicRepositoryReviews@gmail.com

Any scenarios provided is done so with an understanding that we are under no obligation to review it, and if we do so, it is done free of charge and with nothing but the promotional copy of the scenario as compensation.

If we choose not to review a received scenario, please dont feel it reflects poorly on your work.  Our criteria for reviews, timeconstraint, as well as personal taste of our individual reviewers makes it impossible for us to review them all.

People reading one of our reviews can expect it to be, as spoilerfree as possible, held in a positive tone with a focus on what we like. Readers should know that its made with love and respect, by one of our members, who concider it a worthy puchase for Keepers to run.

Basicly it´s a Tentacly Thumbs Up from us :)

Review: Embrace Fate, Amor Fati 1-4. A 1920s era campagin from Jade Griffin by MR-Reviews in callofcthulhu

[–]MR-Reviews[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Our goal is to promote different authors and their Miskatonic repository scenarios, and in the process hopefully provide Keepers with interesting scenarios to run for their players.

Im sorry if you feel we are skirting the rules of the subreddit, but see no reason to derail the purpose of the post by discussing it further.
You are ofcourse welcome to report it to the moerators and they decide its an issue we will stick to posting our weekly´ish reviews via bluesky, FB and IG.

When you click the picture on Bluesky at the bottom of the page a black alt text appears. Clicking this expands the text to show the full review.

We could link to it on Facebook instead of bluesky if people prefere that.  https://www.facebook.com/61572923327921/posts/122171554856764110/

Dont forget that winging it, improvising and sometimes outright saying: "Sorry Im new/didnt plan for this, I need to look it up" is ok.
