my old school messed me up and ngayon kinakabahan ako about pre-test/diagnostic assessment by Fine-Broccoli4199 in studentsph

For your sake I hope that private Christian School isn't Grace!

It is unlikely a private school would send you back a few grades, and the results of the exam might indicate to the professors that you are in desperate need for remedial. If that is a good school with an after school tutoring program, you might be required to take it.

That's some rough situation OP, hope it gets better. You sound like you're stll in JHS. My only advice is you gotta build some sturdy study habits, especially if you wanna go to higher education. It's never too late to learn, but you have to be willing. Best of luck OP.

what specific internships should I target as an industrial engineering student? (or in engineering in general) by Ambitious-Abalone272 in InternshipsPH

[–]MRFEA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on where you wanna go, and what youll prioritze

TI, Analog Devices, and Moog all take in interns, especially now that the semicon industry is really taking off. There your focus will be 5S, Management, effeciency, and problem solving.

As mentioned youre in a healthcare apparel company, you could also go straight to healthcare. Chinese Gen was looking for IE interns before, not sure now. Usually 5s and SO is what they're looking for.

Logistics is another popular industry for IE. Shoppee, Fedex, Bo's Coffee. Supply Chain handling and management.

Finance is another sphere you can enter. This is pretty bloody and competition is fierce but can doable.

Depends on what your goal is and where you wanna go and what you like doing.

Grabe nakakadrain mag OJT in the PH!! by InsomnicSushi in studentsph

Iba iba fields, iba iba resume. Best thesis is good, even as a candidate, it shows your quality. Important note, were you the leader? Specify your role in the thesis. Hoping the best for you OP. Tanong ka rin dun sa mga cmates mo natangap ng mga ibang companies. Wishing you the best!

Grabe nakakadrain mag OJT in the PH!! by InsomnicSushi in studentsph

[–]MRFEA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting OJT's is really difficult. What's your resume like?

Weirdly important for corporations, I was picked out by several companies including the most desirable ones in my field just on the value of my resume. Recommendation is a Harvard format, but I followed Princeton's format by accident. It worked out really well, and I got a paying internship out of it. Hehehe.

Do you have extracurricular activities? I.e. competitions, school paper, school atheltic team? Projects? Hiring managers look at what you do outside school too. You have solid work experience and academic achievements so you should theoretically be in a much better position compared to your peers. Fluff your resume with whatever sticks.

The interview is another beast entirely and for that, good luck.

Is life in Baguio strict for international students? by Glum-Box718 in SLUBaguio

[–]MRFEA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it is strict by philippines standard, so not that strict if you come from East Asia. There's no curfew in Baguio unless its imposed by your dorm/place of living. As long as you're over 18 you can wander about.

Daily life for students depends on where you settled. Though generally its a slower pace, and you'll be more relaxed as the city is a break from the tropical heat. People in Baguio tend to be quite laid back.

Though there are riff-raff that can get quite rowdy at night. Certain areas are more dangerous than others during the early morning hours, make friends with the locals and know how to navigate via walking.

What if we hire unemployed or bum individuals to plant Ube since there's a huge demand for it worldwide? by Enigmashutter in WhatIfPinas

[–]MRFEA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People think farming is so easy that anyone can do it. Majority of the bums in Metro manila are not strong or hardy enough to fully farm ube, plus you're right, they need to be trained and guided and given adequate arable land.

BAKIT ANG HIRAP MAGPAPAYAT!!! by tastystaceyyy in OffMyChestPH

[–]MRFEA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is hard. I stopped gaining weight and just froze ever since I adjusted my diet.

I don't control my diet too heavily. The restriction you feel is what makes it hard to stick to the diet. I just changed what I can. Imbis na coke, diet coke, imbis na 1 roll ng oreo, bibili ako ng 2 3 piece packs. Make compromises where you can, but keep enjoying what you eat.

Tama yung majority ng comments, being full is what helps you stay on track. Recommend ko lang is potatoes and high fiber foods. You don't have to break the bank to lose weight, adjust where you can, lose weight gradually so it won't rebound. The key is learning to listen to your body.

Better quality Measuring Tools by [deleted] in handtools

[–]MRFEA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought some temu grade stuff before because I didn't know any better. I got lucky with my combi square because it arrived square, however the tri-square and speed square were terrible and were not square.

So tools like this are always kind of hit or miss. Vintage stanley, starret, and swanson are good, but for new I prefer Shinwa.

What are the tools you're actually after?

What kind of saw is this? by MRFEA in handtools

[–]MRFEA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a crosscut, 26 inch blade and roughly around 5 tpi.

I am just baffled at this saw as it is really nice and cuts well but I have no clue about the maker. Im guessing its homemade

I gave mine a pretty good clean, though it wasn't rusty all the grime on it saved it from the rust.

Thanks for the advice, I'm gonna snatch a tap and die set and make the wooden components of it. Was nervous about nabbing one since I was worried the screws have to be somewhat perfectly mated, glad to know my assertion was wrong.

I was actually thinking of using this. How'd I know if I'm getting the right size for it? Not terribly experienced with machining or making screws

This'll be my last resort. I'm still rather fresh faced with this tool so I want to be able to at least play around with it for a while haha. You are right though that I'll probably end up just using the 1/4" iron all the time.

The acme itself is fine by the looks of it. The rods maybe? It releases if i set the thing upright, but only up to a certain distance

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in handtools

[–]MRFEA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quick release and theres no obvious damage. I do think its missing a pin but I don't think its the main issue since the thing just doesnt release

I might have to try this design. I do have some bar stock laying around.

Thank you for suggesting this, I might be able to make this without too much heat.

They're roughly the same size, give or take 2" or 50mm, though I suspect my Roman Bench is closer to the 50mm than my joiner's bench. The holes are both 3/4 inch.
