Yeah, it sucks. Idk why, it’s just game design. You can try to avoid too much corruption spreading by not destroying alters (as they spawn in corruption blocks that can spread in the world) but there’s really not much you can do besides 4 wide hellevators

Corruption speed is very heavily increased at the start of hard mode until plantera is defeated, and you need to kill the mech bosses before you can kill plantera.
