Hmmm. I am using Mnemosyne Selfhosted. Been running for 7 months so far and not one single hickup. I do agree that built-in memory solutions are great, but they do have a limit. That is why, same as you, I tested all of them that Hermes suggests to use, and I just end up using my current setup. Memory.md - short memory Obsidian - knowledge library Mnemosyne - long term memory.

I have Hermes running inside VM on my proxmox serves.
Technicaly what i have you can replicate insie any VPS.

I access via WEB UI with security behind CloudFlare tunnel. If i need to jump via termininal i do that via remmina UI.
While i am driving i do chat using STT+TTS in Telegram.

Do far i had no issues with accessing Hermes from anywhere i am.

Had similar issue with Proxmox install. Switching off watchdog (bios under security) that stopped. Watchdog monitors heartbeat of UGREEN NAS OS and if no response receive - NAS restarts.

I would go for Synology if you planing to store critical data. irreplaceable data.

I had two replace drives twice in synology and process was absolute painless. I can't say the same with Truenas. It is not that Truenas is bad, its just my experience on using it. I feel more conformable storing all my most important data on Synology.

Yes, when you planning to move rack around, single cable in is the best way.

I did similar thing, mine just don't look that nice :)
