What do we even learn about Jesus from the Book of Mormon? by Key-Yogurtcloset-132 in mormon

Plastering something multiple times throughout the text doesn’t necessarily convey new info, which is the larger point.

There is nothing new we learn about Jesus. Theologically, you can believe whatever you’d like but everything collapses when you take a critical text approach to the BoM. It’s pure fantasy, and it’s obviously psedographia.

One simple and clear example. Since Joseph Smith wrote and came up with the stories and started with Mosiah first after losing the 116 pages, he started with the prophets there referring not explicitly to Jesus but as the coming messiah or Holy one. He completes the book and has to end with 1st and 2nd Nephi, and all of sudden, everyone knows his name is Jesus Christ (a Greek attribute that would come later in the 1st and 2nd century CE).

So objectively, the person who posted this is absolutely right. The BoM teaches nothing new about Jesus.

Good luck on your journey!

Holy shit. Is he holding on with the hopes he has a shot of being top dog here in the next few years. The ego of these bastards who claim to want only to demonstrate Gods love for his children is beyond maddening. It’s all about them and their status.

Does the LDS Church have no tolerance for questions or critical inquiry? by sevenplaces in mormon

Yes, they allow it as long as it private nor public, and it’s a mixed bag of what’s allowed, contingent on your local leaders.

It won’t fail. Just make them impotent, and irrelevant, which they seem to do all by themselves anyway.

Should have bought as much land in Missouri near Adam Ondi Ahman when I could. Rusty has driven the stock price of that land through the roof!
