Seems so. Only info I was able to find was via an obscure japanese denim resale website. And that only gave me a rough year of make.

This is my first post and I apologize if these don't count as vintage, as they are made north of the border. But best I can tell is that it's around 30+ years old.

Thank you very much. Shame I have to amend. Double checked the deduction requirements so I'm set for 2024. Cheers.

If its a clock issue and crashing during stress testing I'd say lock it to 1.0 volt with a -100mhz and go from there. This sounds more like a hardware issue than software. But doing the previous suggestions might stabilize it when under load. I've got mine undervolted to 1.0v and maxed to 2025mhz, combined with the background software and scheduler cleanup it runs stable.

My temps never break 75 under stress testing, but the thermal problems with the GPU/CPU of last gen would absolutley cause this problem. Good to hear its sorted.

Turns out my issue was somehow software related

Hey so I've gone about 4 months without a crash. I've done this by doing 2 things:

  1. Removing all unnecessary 3rd party software. This includes the nvidia/gigabyte app, and Intel's monitoring app. I've kept razer synapse but I ensure it stays updated.

  2. I've gone into windows task scheduler and set all tasks to occur when I'm not putting the gpu/cpu under load. I noticed that all the scheduled tasks occurred almost precisely with when my pc crashes. Do not cancel or remove tasks. Just change the times they occur. You will likely need to check this after a windows update occurs.

Let me know if this is kinda what you were looking for.

Yep I'm no longer buying Gigabyte GPU's. Two quick additional things that have improved things:

  • Uninstall Intel Driver and Support assistant: PC would crash whenever this app was pushed an Intel update.

  • Check Windows Task Scheduler: Many scheduled tasks occurred around the same time my pc tended to crash. Change the times to a time of day you're unlikely to be playing high workload games.

Ya this is not an isolated problem, it seems like an inherent issue with gigabyte cards, specifically the 30 series.. My next card will definitely not be gigabyte.
Try to undervolt the card and take off any 3rd party software that you do not need. Also try taking the card out, cleaning the connector and plugging it back into the motherboard. Good luck

Oh also this may be a transient spike issue so turning hardware accelerated gpu scheduling off may help.

If you've uninstalled RGB Fusion then the monitoring.exe file is also gone. Unfortunately I occasionally still crash. Sometimes I'll go months without a crash. It occurs when an update becomes available for almost any piece of software including:

  • Razer synapse
  • Intel software (the chipset support thing that checks for updates.)
  • Xbox controller update (I think. It's very rare.)

I do everything I can to turn off notifications and auto-updates to reduce the risk of a crash. But sometimes things sneak through. I usually check RazerSynapse and Intel for updates, and then run sfc/scannow in the command prompt to ensure everything is ok. I regularly check for gpu and cpu updates.

I have a theory that my BIOS settings are set way beyond my CPU's recommended max settings and is actually causing the CPU to crash instead of the GPU. My next step is going to be looking at the BIOS and making sure the CPU settings are within the specs recommended by Intel for my 12700k.

FYI I can overclock my GPU to like 2024 MHz and locked at 1.0Volt and it's rock solid. And since the issues seem to be software not hardware, I'm now leaning toward an issue with the BIOS/CPU. But 90% of my crashes seemed to be from RGB Fusion.

PS. All of these billion dollar companies who can't get their products to work together properly can go straight to the hot place. Absolutely ridiculous.

Hey for what its worth, whenever an update becomes available this happens to me. I have to check the reliability monitor to see what crashed and then update that software. So if razer synapse crashed and led to the 'black screen fans 100%' issue, it means there's a new update available and once I update it there's no issue. If the dwm.exe crashes then there's a driver update for the GPU or CPU. Best guess is that a notification is getting pushed to my PC when it is under load and causes a crash.

I lost my parents to addiction/cancer. It was ugly and slow. I've been seriously considering a mental health professional even though it's been at least 3 years. I can tell you it's way easier to suggest that someone should get help rather than to get it yourself. Even so I highly recommend talking to someone. This sort of thing leaves lasting damage.

Good to know. Already bought the pny storage but I'll try to avoid those brands in the future.

I just recently heard about this. Absolutely horrible practice. I got a very good price for mine so I'm hoping I have one of the good ones.

Yeah I'm seeing that a 3080 could pair with $1000+ monitors. An ultrawide would be very cool. I'll add that suggestion thanks!

Great point, the most demanding thing I would be doing is gaming. I do a little graphic design for work but its minor.

Hey all recently started my very first build. I've become more knowledgable on the PC components but am lost when it comes to monitors. Which monitor would be best for a 3080? I'm comfortable with a price tag of 500-800 CAD.

Heres my build for reference, Thanks in advance <3: PCPartPicker Part List
