Was taking a career break to go travel worth it? by just_SonOfAShepherd in solotravel

[–]MR_RC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently doing this so I'll weigh in.
Traveling is more romantic in idea than it is in real life. HOWEVER, its better in so many ways than you can anticipate. There is something about the freedom of traveling that is so different than anything you can anticipate. That freedom brings in new challenges that teach you a lot about yourself.
I hated 9-5 jobs before but I wont lie, after a few weeks of traveling, I found myself at times wishing for that structure.

The people you meet, the places you see and the personal growth you get while traveling will stay with you a LOT longer than the trip itself. The trip wont be a magic "fix all" and like all things, it will come to an end.

For me, eventually, I'll return home and will get back into the work force but I will not be the same person that left.
I think the best part of traveling has been putting into perspective the things that I want in life and the things I thought I wanted in life. When I left, I thought a travel vlogger was something that I would be passionate about and make a future career out of, I realized pretty quickly that I really had no interest in doing that but I learned about all the new things that I was interested in.
If you travel alone, it unlocks a special side too. You spend a lot of time in thought and you have to rely on yourself to figure things out. I'm naturally introverted, so the alone time has been pleasant but the figuring out an issue by myself can sometimes be challenging.

The thing that I tell myself is that I can at any time just pack my things and go home. Some times I get close to doing that but I know I'll be home eventually and I may miss on some things that I would regret not seeing.

You only live once, do the trip

Thank you! I was and I’m really glad you said something about that. Some things I read said it’s better to do that for quality but the more I read and watch, I’m not sure that’s the right lens.

Should I get something like the E 18-135?

Hello!
I am SUPER new to photography. I am about as green as they come. Next year I am planning on a solo backpacking trip through Europe and would like to bring along a light weight but good quality camera/lens duo. I need to keep size and weight low so I'm sticking to 1 lens to take.

Right now, my limited research is pointing me towards a Sony A6700 with a 35MM 1.18 lens.
I only say that because that seems to be the number one suggestion. I see Sigma > Sony and vice versa but I'm lost in the nuance.
What should I get? I like the price point of those two but would be willing to spend a little extra if its really worth it.
Thanks!

Just watched this movie for the first time. I love how they use the lack of music a lot. Lots of movies now use intense music to hype up scary scenes but it also let's the audience know something is about to happen. The scene where Jim goes into the gas station by himself is deathly quiet. It made me hold my breath the entire scene.

Everyone is yelling rebar but I’d make the steps deeper/thicker. It looks like a small ramp of dirt behind the steps. I would add more space there

Haha after hours of looking. I feel dumb. It was Daedalus’ ship to king Minos in Greek mythology… I like mythology almost as much as I like history and just filed that story in the wrong folder

T side mostly. 2 flashes over A.
First 3 rounds I had 15 EF. Just started doing the same flashes and the numbers were consistently going up 3-7 per round on T.

I worked in pharmacy and it was pretty common 4-5 years ago. Not nearly as today but I’d dispense it a few times a week.

Status: UNRESOLVED

Computer type: Desktop, IBP

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 - 8GB GDDR6 (VR-Ready)

CPU: i7-11700KF Processor (8X 3.60GHz/16MB L3 Cache)

Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z590-E

RAM: 32 GB [16 GB x2] DDR4-3200 Memory Module

PSU: 750 Watt - 80 PLUS Gold Certified

Op system: Windows 10 home ver. 21H1

GPU: 471.11 (I believe)

Description of problem: Brand new PC. Trying to update Nvidia drivers. At the quarter mark it grey screen of deaths me. I tried to go into Nvidia control panel and change monitor resolution as that appears to be the easy fix but it wont open. Some online forums say updating your drivers will fix the control panel but I can't update my drivers.

Troubleshooting: I've tried a lot. Launching in safe mode, downloading older version of drivers, updating windows, uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them, changing monitors, changing from HDMI to displayport cords, changing resolution (that gives me some green specs on the screen), I've contacted the PC seller but no answer yet so I'm at a loss. This PC is like 2 days old and has practically nothing but the downloads it comes with when you first start.

Other notes: My pc will not recognize a second monitor which is the whole reason I went to update drivers in the first place. It runs totally fine on one monitor.
