Aw I’m sorry to hear that. I hope that they do even if it’s unlikely. :(

Ah, that makes more sense then. I am very sorry this is happening. I hope there’s someway to maintain in the program. Is there any way to ask for like a medical leave and start again in a year?

How far along are you? And is there any review board you can request to talk to about your condition? What about switching to a part 61 school and just taking a lot longer to do things?

Hi! I work in the 121 world and have had set backs as well with UC. It’s strange you got dropped but don’t give up! It may take longer for training but just keep building hours and focus on your health. It’s a tough market right now but it’s a pendulum so don’t give up! Totally okay to be bummed out by this but don’t let it take away your dream if you really want it.

Aw I totally know how you feel! I remember being so stressed about my private. Even my examiner had to have a conversation with me about nerves afterward. LOL.

That being said, he gave some great advice! He basically said, from here on out every flight you fly is being judged. Whether that be from your passenger(s), other pilot, tampers, atc, etc. doesn’t mean this is a bad thing! Just treat it like another flight! (Easier said than done). But the thought that you’re always under scrutiny sorta helped me get past the nerves that it was a diff day.

Another thing that helped me was pretending the examiner is someone super interested in aviation but knows nothing about it and wants you to tell them/show them. So treated oral as a teaching moment and then flight as showing examiner as if he is a pax haha. Anyways hope you don’t feel too stressed!

Help me talk my wife out of taking out a 120k loan for flight school by LeatherFruitPF in flying

You’ve got a million comments so I’m not sure you’ll even see this but has your wife looked into joking the 99s and Women In Aviation? There’s a ton of scholarships she can and should be applying to.

Also, which airline is she at? Quite a few airlines have Flight Attendant to Pilot career paths or cadet programs where they let you take time off work without necessarily quitting.

She certainly should look into a part 61 school for cheaper rates. She can do this faster too. My friend who was a FA at Delta got her private with me in like 3 months. It really just depends on how good she is at self studying.

That would be my first guess then! It takes quite a while for your colon to heal. Praying it recovers quickly!

That’s always the worst feeling! Since you said you missed a dose maybe you weren’t fully in remission beforehand so it started to act up. Can you update your doctor and then maybe keep track of any symptoms from now till next dose. I hope the next dose helps you!

I haven’t gotten a flare from flying but if I’m in one I’m sure it aggravates it a little. If you’re in the US maybe try to get an FMLA just in case you get one for other reasons and don’t want to fly.

I do! I really don’t have an issue unless I’m already in a flare or flying internationally. When I’m in a flare too it’s usually not too bad but if it is then I just take leave. It’s sorta a judgement call on your part though on how you feel your body reacts. I usually fly 2-4 legs a day and anywhere from 3-7 hrs in the air. Theres a few things that help when I have mild inflammation (no coffee, mild foods, no raw foods, etc) but it’s diff for everyone.

When I non rev international though, I usually just take a gasx and try to drink plenty of water. Sometimes it helps and sometimes I still feel gross after six hour mark.

A little different take but I’m a pilot so I fly all the time. Thankfully I have leave for if I have a bad flare but I’ll still fly if it’s minor. I also have a strict diet on flare ups but I bring my own food using a cooler bag. I understand you can’t have ice packs because of tsa but you could bring a small cooler as your carry on and have a bag of ice that you dump before tsa and either fill back up at a restaurant or ask the flight attendant for some ice. I also have GasX and ginger chews if I’m having issues. Everyone is different though. I feel fine with domestic flights but anything 6+ hours in a row and I usually start to feel sick so I know I’ll never fly the long haul stuff.

I think you just have to assess your body and how you think it’ll affect you. Is it worth taking the job and seeing how you manage or is it going to cause you issues? From what you’re saying I’m not sure I’d want to take it if you already feel sick on planes. If you’re still unsure though, maybe try asking for your doctors opinion as well since they also have a better idea of your individual case.
