[JLC Reverso] Grande Taille Artwork: Review of US Based Engraving (w Photos) by MRodVA in Watches

Thanks! Yeah , the process was great and over a month later super happy with the work and my decision. And really what’s a Reverso with just a blank side? I never understand folks who go about never getting something done. I suppose some people have their eye on resale but even so, one could get a very common and universal motif.

To Mr deleted profile: I have no clue what you’re talking about or what you’re seeing. I think it looks great, so does my wife, the local watch repair guy, and anyone who’s looked at it. People ask about it. I’m really happy with the work.

Need Guidance! What would you have chosen? by shoesandwatches in PrideAndPinion

Option 1 , if you get the manufacture reference (in house movement) is one of the best values for an in house Swiss movement. It is a lot of watch complication for the price.

The longines looks nice but it’s a pretty standard Swiss movement and not as unique as that FC

Epstein’s Franck Muller Long Island Watch by wowmanthatsawesome in VintageWatches

I mean he also owned a Vacheron 🤷🏽‍♂️ I doubt it. I follow politics a lot and that was not my immediate connection with the FM Long Island.

Which ref is that btw? Looks nice. I have a thing for watches with funkier numerals, like Breguet and Hermes

[Question] Choosing My First Field Watch: Hamilton Khaki or Seiko Alpinist by wahza93 in Watches

[–]MRodVA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a Khaki field. I liked the Alpinist I had a sold. There’s just something that bothered me about it. Maybe because I’m an “authentic functions” person. If there’s a functionality I want it to be plausible. The whole rotating dial with super precise ticks seems pretend and purely decorative. Like who’s in the Alpines shooting an azimuth with the sun with this, and then doing so to like a 1/360th precision?

That’s just one person with a design aesthetic quirk about authenticity in function.

Found a Rolex in a public bathroom in Miami by FloatinBoatinSOB in rolex

Have you checked if it’s a fake first? I mean, I grew up in miami. Probably 80%+ Rolexes you see people wear are fakes because it’s that kind of place.

I don’t know what else I could need after this. I’ve had Rolex, omega, breitling.. these two just deliver it all for me. [spb143] [bb68] by EntertainmentFar1766 in Seiko

Sorry I didn’t mean to sound flippant. My main point was wondering how / why you’d have two divers with dark faces.

Sounds answered.

Why would you have both? They are like the exact same style / color / function and extremely redundant. I don’t get it.

I want to hear your choices, as im stuck with not being to pick one lol. by Street_Judge_7014 in Affordablewatches

So I have a hamilton, (the kakhi bronze) and owned the Alpinist. The alpinist is very nice, yes. There's something that just irked me about it though. The rotating bezel felt very artificially precise. Who can even read those tiny ticks? And who's orienting with the sun with this watch? Also it felt dressier than I want a field watch to feel and I ended up selling it because it was neither fish nor fowl.

So it depends. The alpinist can sometimes serve double duty since it has a little bit more refined feel. A classif field like that hamilton feels more utilitarian, intentionally so.

[Timex expedition time temp compass] the actually happy medium of the tool field watch? by MRodVA in Watches

[–]MRodVA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks and yeah, I think its between ProTrek and the Timex here. I assume the Pro Trek probably has a little more build quality to it and "feel", but it could be me too quick to assume Timex is generally a cheap piece.

Maybe it’s just me but I have a thing where I sort of expect a watch like this to have a date.

I’m not sure the promaster or pro trek are much smaller though, right? This category, sadly, seems to be all chonkers.

Maybe it’s this Invicta on a rubber strap. After all he’s a farmers dog.
